Well, my thoughts on having hacks or game editors of any kind, is that absolute power corrupts absolutely. Once you use out of game capabilities to alter the game for any reason, even with the best of intentions ( and even if you feel it fits in the "spirit" of the game), you lose forever that sense of urgency or excitement generated by the game world. I dont even want a game editor in my possesion, because I know that its so tempting to use it...and I just dont want to have to work that hard. One of the great things about BG, is the fact that the gameworld is so open ended, mirroring real life better than so many other games, in that you can make mistakes, and you do the best you can with what you have. Once you know that the game cant do anything to you that you cant "fix"...you lose that edge of excitement which is the closest thing any game can deliver thats remotely close to a real sense of danger.
Bugs are a slightly different issue, but from my knowledge, there are no bugs that would keep you from finishing and enjoying the game...and its still not worth (in my opinion) breaking that sense of excitement by even having a game editor in your possesion. If you complete most of the quests in the game, chances are, youll already be remarkably powerful, and by the last few chapters youll be pretyy much tearing up everything anyways. I for one, fail to see the appeal in artificially enhancing a plyer further to go back and rekill all the things youve already killed in 2 seconds instead of 10. If your to that point, wouldnt it be so much more fun to get a new game? Just my two cents Chev |

I agree Chev', cant see the point of cheating, especially first time around in any game. I have just completed (The best 25 quid I have spent for some time BTW)and only now looking @ walkthroughs etc. There are small parts of Bauldurs Gate that I have not seen, which only adds to the fantasy for me. If I were to become omniscient the magic would be lost.
Thanks to all who have given suggestions along the way. Looking for another adventure Taliesin Half Elf Fighter Mage. Independant Mercenary with a soul. |
