I belong to a credit union as well and I've never had any problems with my accounts or their practices. I keep up with my transactions for my benefit, not because I feel I have to watch the institute closely (although it helps do that as well).

Well, given the story in the OP, it may be prudent to do both from now on, as I know such issues are not exclusive to WF alone, but this case may serve as a cookie-cutter set of regulations and standards for all.
