Everyone slept undisturbed by outside beings (dreams are another matter). When Arlyth woke and arrived back at camp, 2 hours before sunrise like he had said, he found everyone still asleep. The gnome Ivan against a tree, the mage on his side. Alaerth was against a tree as well, but sitting cross-legged, his arms crossed over his chest. Alae was leaning against her brother, one leg stretched out, the other propped up by her foot. Her arms were crossed over her stomach.

The party would probably wake in an hour, when the sky was a pale green with the not-yet-risen sun. Arlyth could make a fire, if he wished, or go scout (though he might run into the thri-kreen), or simply sit and wait. Waking the twins up probably wouldn't be a good idea. They'd be cranky.

After having learned of last nights happening Gus felt he was compelled to jot down his thoughts in his journal...

As the false dawn broke over the eastern sky a hunter approached the camp, constant movement helped the thri kreens blood to stay warm, as did eating the fresh flesh of the deer she had caught, the carcass had been skinned carefully, and bled by morning, and the kreen brought it with her, since her packmates needed to rest during the dark periods she would have their meal ready for them. As she arrived in camp she hung the animal up and began cutting strips of flesh away for the others, as well as harvesting various organs, and glands for their medicinal purposes.

OOC If anyone wants some venison they'll have to cook it themselves as Xvim won't think of it. most of the carcass is whole, only a small part (and the organs) have been eaten by the Kreen.

Arlyth ignored the Kreen, and instead cast dimension door, and his stallion obediently entered the portal, and appeared at Arlyth's side a second later. The dimension door closed, and Arlyth repacked his equipment upon his stallion. Then he stripped down to the waist, took out his katana and practised as the sun's rays broke over the horizon, a dancing silhouette.

"Wow more edible 4 legged things..." Gus spoke as he examined the strip of veil in his hands... He sniffed at it, though it did no good. He then remembered he was in an environment with air, slapped himself on the forehead and then went back to looking at the silky lines in the meat. "Well... I think I'd better cook it..." Gus Walked over to a small plot of non-grassy ground and began to wave his hands around. Suddenly it looked as if the ground had sprung a leak as fire spat forth and started to shower embers all over the place. Gus started to look a little nervouse and half-whispered-half-spoke to his portal,"smaller! Smaller!" at which point the fire dwindled to a 2 foot tall flame, he then ran about stamping on patches of grass which had caught fire from the raining embers and resumed a dumb-faced smile when turning to see how the others reacted...

Ivan awoke and yawned and looked at the fire which caught his eyes and looked at the flaming grass beside him. He hoppped up quickly, stamped it out, and looked for more. He then noticed a panicing Gus who seemed to be stomping out flaming grass as well. Ivan just chuckled as he grabbed a slice of veil and walked over to Gus."Hello Gus, Mind sharing the fire? How'd you sleep by the way?" he said smiling.

"I slept like an snowbeast in spring..." he answered comically while gesturing to allow both peices of veil to be cooked at once...
"These portals are usefull for some things, just as long as you don't drop what you're cooking". Gus smiled. He looked at the little gnome and imagined all of the questions he could answer, and all of the questions he could answer for him, thereby extending their knowledge. He suppsoed they both knew this potential, and yet, they shared this moment, calmly, dully, apreciating nothing more than life itself. Perhaps the greatest thing worth spending time doing...

A grunt was heard from Alaerth, and one of his eyes slowly opened, surveying the deer and cooking, then each of the party in turn. The eyes slid shut again and he took a deep breath followed by a yawn. His movement stirred Alae, who blinked in confusion a few times. She jumped up when she spotted the deer.
"Did you catch that Xvim? You're wonderful!" The famished princess was next to the kreen in a blink, helping her strip the edible pieces of meat (which she promtly ate). Using the dragon form did more than merely tire, it drained the body's energy. It didn't matter if themeat was cooked or not.

Alaerth grunted again and pushed himself to his feet. After doing some breif stretches he meandered over to where Gus and Ivan were, giving the fire a curious glance, but not hesitating to grab a piece of meat and roast it.
"We'll be leaving the Defari territory today, so be on your guard. The people on the other side are likely not to be friendly towards us."

Arlyth cast a glance over at his cousin, "And that, Lord Alaerth is why I'm training, apart from the fact I've been lax over the past few days." he nodded to him, and asked, "I trust you slept well." he paused, "Your father is... interesting." and cast a look over at Alae, "Interesting breakfast, cousin." he replied drily. "Some custom I don't know about?" he asked, his tone incredibly dry, his eyes holding a wry humour. "I thought that eating raw meat was generally considered... unusual and one usually cooked it." he shrugged, "Ah well, each to their own. Me, well, I haven't eaten at all. Bad for training." he remarked wryly, and having bid goodmorning to his cousins, continued to train.

"You met our father last night? I'll not ask why he thought to visit you." It wasn't an insult. Avalon never spoke to anyone in his forest unless they came to him, or he thought they were a possible threat (Arlyth's dragon roar).
"You try turning into a dragon, cousin. They eat their meat raw, why can't I?" Alae huffed and finally slowed down in her eating.
"Because," Alaerth said with a frown, "Raw meat can be unhealthy for those whose bodies are used to eating cooked meat. Full dragons don't cook their meat. We were raised on cooked meat." He jumped over to his sister and snatched the piece she was about to inhale, "Come cook it, sister. We don't need you getting sick." He dragged over to the fire, were she grumbled but grudgingly allowed the veal to be roasted.
