"well seeing as she hasnt destroyed us yet I was sort of assuming a tad bit of compliance, but if we must be so formal... Me lady... would it be too much trouble for this little fellow to tag along mounted on my steed?" Gus asked as politley as he was capable.

Arlyth remained silent, and pushed the contempt he felt for the genasi to one side, instead he focused on being around his cousins, and Alae's hand on his shoulder. He brightened visibly, and almost seemed to be smiling. His aura had turned from dark to light, and he was happy. Perfectly content to let Alae do the talking, he once again seemed his usual cheerful self, despite the fact he had said nothing aloud. He didn't need to. Those who could read body language would have noticed it; his shoulders relaxed, the slight crease in his brow was gone, as was the wariness in his eyes, the stiff posture relaxed. Almost as though a burdan had been lifted from him. He smiled at his cousin, and waited for her to reply.

Alae glanced at Arlyth without really seeing him, lost in thought as she was. She bit her lip and glanced at Alliene, who shook her head,
"This must be your decision. You and Alaerth will be in charge when I am gone, so letting someone join is your responsibilty." The Matron said firmly and crossed her arms. Alae glanced up as Alaerth gently took her arm and pulled her a bit away from the others, using the draconic language of silver dragons taught to them by their father, (ooc-so no one but Alliene should understand ) "Well sister, I don't know about you...but I think maybe the gnome is...unecessary. We can't be in the thick of a battle and have him lob some potion at the monster we're fighting and blow us up along with it." "He has a staff, brother. Surely he uses that if something dangerous gets too close to use a potion." "Come on, Alae, That staff is huge, I doubt if he can even swing it effectively in close quarters." A scowl appeared on his smooth face. "You may be right," Alae reflected and glanced at the gnome briefly, "But you may be wrong. We cannot know until we actually fight something. I say we let him come. If he gets in our way...well, lets hope he doesn't." "When am I ever wrong?" Alaerth said with a grin and let Alae sock him on the shoulder. They returned to the others. "We have decided to let you come with us, gnome." Alaerth said in a serious tone, "But I warn you, we will not tolerate stupidity of any kind on this mission. If we think you're slowing us down, you'll have to leave. Do I make myself clear?" |

Gus simply smiled at this, a sort of subliminal taunt to those who opposed this new ally... Be him usefull or not, he would still prove to be of some entertainment while on this journey.

When Alae reappeared, Arlyth walked back over to her, and took her hand. With a slight grin he leaned over and whispered into her ear, in a voice so low only those with elven blood could even hope to eavesdrop, "He said the same thing to me, did he not?" Arlyth grinned slightly, "Only... I get the feeling you'd probably slap me if I misbehaved rather then ask me to leave... first time around, I s'pose. At least, I hope you would.". Arlyth's tone was cheerful, and he was in good spirits again. "Whenever your ready to leave?" he asked normally, looking at Alaerth, his tone one of respect rather then of light banter. Arlyth seemed to prefer Alae of Alaerth, or at the very least, was more at ease around her.

Looking at the strange gnome, then at the genasi, Xvim couldn't help but wonder what she had just gotten herself into, the irritable elfling had a great dislike for her for some reason, but respected the packleader like any good member. She began clicking softly (almost under her breath), "You are not the Alpha or the Beta to this pack yet you feel right to question your role, You will get all of us killed, fool."

OOC: I am assuming Arlyth can hear this? If not, I'll edit. I'm assuming that elven hearing is superior to humans.
Arlyth stared at the Thri-Kreen, and hissed in reply, "Question my actions not; understand that I do not have to be here, and I do not have to tolerate such backchat from you, Insect. The only one that shall get killed if this persists, is you." The elf's hands were already on his blade hilts, and his eyes were emerald fire, burning. "You have no idea of my role here, and until you do, keep such comments to yourself." His eyes menancing, he continued, "Call me a 'fool' again, and you'll pay tenfold in blood." Alae could tell unless she intervened or the Thri-Kreen backed down, Arlyth probably would engage the Thri-Kreen. He hated them with a vengence. "I already told you to keep away from me, are you so hard of hearing - or stupid - that you cannot understand a simple command?" the young elf taunted. |

The young elf was stopped as a large hand gripped his shoulder painfully,
"Stop it now." Alaerth growled, "I do not know what you said, but your intentions are clear enough. Lay a finger or blade on her, and I'll be very angry." His eyes glowed; he was starting to lose his temper again, "Do I make myself clear?" Alae had crossed her arms dissaprovingly at Arlyth's behaviour, her mouth pulled to one side, while the smirk had reappered on Alliene's face. The drow turned to Xvim, "You must forgive the child, Xvim. Despite what he says, he commands nothing but the alpha male's ire, as you can surely see." Alaerth snorted and released Arlyth, whistling for the horses. They came rustling through the brush, led by Alliene's gelding. Alaerth mounted, Alae and Alliene following his lead. The half dragon looked down at Arlyth, "If what Alliene said is true, then I am dissapointed. Out here, you are no better than anyone else, and therefore, have no right to order anyone around, our allies least of all." He turned his horse and trotted off north, Alliene following. "I really wish you would not provoke my brother so, little cousin." Alae told him as he mounted his stallion, "You would not like him angry. Or me, for that matter. Remember what we told you about your attitude on this journey." She turned Star Shadow to the gnome and Gus, "You may ride with Gus, if it pleases you, or you can walk, if you can keep up." She turned her mare north and started her forward, "Walk up next to me please, Xvim? It seems my aunty has picked up your language. I would have her teach it to me so that you and I may converse." OOC: LB - WHAT?

Arlyth bowed mockingly to Alaerth, "Yes my lord, as you command." because Arlyth was bowing his sneer was hidden, but the cleaning of his teeth was not. "Perfectly clear, my lord." he replied, his own eyes burning. Arlyth turned and looked at Alliene, and whispered in Drow, his voice deadly soft, "Child though I may be, I can still hold my own against any of the Thri-Kreen. I am not my father, but I have bested creatures more dangerous then a 'Kreen, including a dragon, though young adult it may have been." Looking at Alaerth, he replied to him, "They are no allies of mine; they are yours. And you are wrong, I am better then they; you would do well not to judge by appearences, dear cousin, for I am much more then this. I will follow your lead, for now, my lord." Vaulting to his steed, the young elf turned and addressed Alae, "It is not his place to command me. Nor yours, for that matter. Do not press me cousin, I have my own reasons for hating the Thri-Kreen." his eyes clouded with pain, intense pain. Then he blinked, and it was gone, as well as his anger. "I will obey you, for now, but enough... let us continue. I would soon as forget this mistimed mistake." then the elf glared at the 'Kreen, "But I will not ride beside you as long as you bear that beast at your side." Drawing his katana, he informed her, "I shall scout ahead. I shall meet you within half an hour." then without waiting, he put his heels to the horse's sides, making it rear, and galloped off in front of them, casting an invisibilty spell as they charged forward. The last image they saw of him was of an elf garbed in black upon a black stallion, bearing a katana aloft, in defiance, (of something), and the elf's cloak flowing out behind him, (somewhat melodramatically), before he disappeared from sight. (Bear in mind the cloak he wears will prevent scrying). [ 09-29-2003, 04:39 PM: Message edited by: Calaethis Dragonsbane ] |

Alae glared with misty red eyes at Arlyth's back until he dissapeared. She would have words with him when they stopped for the night. Before Alaerth could get his hands on him at least. He would have two choices-follow the lead of Alaerth and herself, for it was their mission, no matter how much he was involved in it, or he could leave. She could see if he kept up his mood that either something bad by way of Alaerth finally snapping or the kreen would tear him to shreds. She couldn't let that happen.
Arlyth didn't find anything dangerous or suspicious in his scouting; Avalon kept a well tended forest. He found a suitable camping spot for the party. A small clearing with a narrow stream running through it. As a matter of fact, Alae stayed at this clearing when she was exploring or visiting her father, so it was familiar to the twins. The party met up with Arlyth just as the sun sank below the horizon. [ 09-29-2003, 05:14 PM: Message edited by: Lady Blue03 ] |
