There's probably alot of lobbying going around as well. Things we don't see.

Nice quadruple post Stratos! Wow, can you say "edit" button boys and girls??
Actually, with that avatar, I don't blame. I know you don't want to be thought of as worshiping false gods! My mom had breast, lymph node, and uvula cancer. Over the past few years. Yes, she still smokes! I asked her how many body parts they would have to cut out, before she gets it. My step-dad has Parkinson's Disease. With the treatments he has been receiving in Germany twice over the last few years, he's almost living a "normal" life. He's 79 now. I think the real question is: "What is killing us"? Is it our food, our environment, or what? Or some combo, or all, or more. I don't believe people were getting cancer in droves hundreds of years ago. I may be wrong. I don't think the Sun is much of a cause of skin cancer either. If that were true, I think we would be extinct, or if you're in the evolution crowd, would have built up immunities. But, yeah, let's spread the love with the charities around. Jerry got 61+ million for his kids this year. That's just from the average Joe! The corporate stuff is separate. That can help a lot of people in a lot of other fields as well.

But that's a different discussion ![]() I know that breast cancer isn't a purely female disease, but it's advertised as one. All the adverts going around say 'breast cancer affects x amount of women in the world' and have pictures of females on them. They also have pink ribbons, which, lets face it, is a colour with heavy connotations towards the female gender. I actually think that this proves my point a little more. Why are the women dying of this more important than the men? Granted there are more of them, but I'm of the opinion that one life is equal to another. Regardless of gender. It's down to a combination of feminism and the influence of the media. Horrible cocktail, in my opinion.

I think the reason for the heavy direction towards the female population is simply because there's more of them. Male breast cancer patients are a minority, and those who are affected probably have too much pride to be publicized. Because as most people will prove to you, there is a false connection made between breast cancer and women. So to these few males who have it, coming to the public would include being ridiculed for having "a woman's disease". Although I'm not sure what exactly this would jeopardize, it is safe to say that people naturally want to avoid this. Whereas , a female having BC isn't odd to the public, because they've been fed that story so many times through media. The pink colour definitely has a feminine touch to it, I've got to admit you're onto something there . Just like how PC funds have the blue colour (a more manly colour I assume). And lastly its not that women dying from this are more important than the men who die from it. But we hear about the women more, than we do of men. Simply because they have an easier time coming out, thanks to the societal padding that they are given.

![]() I still feel that BC gets far more attention that other diseases do. Was just wondering why the media does this? There are far worse diseases out there in my opinion. Christ, there are thousands of people dying every year from diarrhea in some countries. And I pity any of the poor people who get struck down with something like ALS. Meh. Was just wondering what made breast cancer so special.

I truly believe it boils down to the fact its a disease the effects women mainly.
I also believe women are far more likely to "rally for a cause" and get these things setup. Men just can't be arsed.
