Yes it's broken! Seek medical attention ASAP before it gets worse, or creates a life long issue. IW without DS' art work, hmmm!

Well, it's now three days later. Swellings gone, but it hurts still. Most worrying, I keep getting sharp stabs of pain when I don't even move it... :S If it's still this bad in a couple of days, I'm off to a docter. Meantime, I just have it strapped up so I can't move it

My dear DS... do you know the one thing that's worse than breaking a bone?

Breaking a bone, only to have it set improperly and heal incorrectly. To fix that, they have to break the bone again... on purpose. Or else you join the ranks of those who claim they can tell when the weather's going to change by the pain it inflicts on their previously broken joints.

You thought it hurt this time... Go get it checked out to make sure it's okay. Do you want to go through this again?

You know what bothers me the most about this whole thread? The fact that everyone here seems to be a doctor. I'm sorry LadyZekke but "if it's swelled up that's a sign of things being broken?" You have GOT to be kidding me.

It's not that I don't advise you to go see a doctor DS - I think you should, Bungleau's last post has a whole lotta truth in it! - but Ironworkers tend to scream about going to see a doctor when someone farts and it smells funny. Grow up people!

It's not taht I'm trying to get it re-boken (if indeed it is) it's just taht it is so hard to get an appointment with a docter here - There is a several week long waiting list - I had to wait for months to get an injection.

Are there medical centers or emergency rooms there? I know that doctor's appointments are hard to get here as well, so med centers and hospital ERs fill in the gap. The difference between planned care (appointments) and urgent care (injuries).

Otherwise, it's fodder for cartoonists (well, we can get you in for that severed thumb in... how's April? Is April good?)

And to Link's rant, my first thought is that if someone's asking here, then in their minds, it's gone a bit beyond the normal scrapes and bruises. I'm no doctor (although I know one who frequents IW), but I'll share what I would do or did do. And my advice will usually be to get it checked out. If you're unsure, ask a pro.

I'll keep an eye out to make sure it's more of what I *would* do... and I'll restrict my suggestions when someone farts

Well, on your advice, I went to A&E today. I was there for three hours.
After a couple of x-rays, I found out taht there is nothing major wrong - no chipped bones, no damaged muscles, just a very bad bruise. I have to take painkillers and strap ot up while I am at school so I don't damage it any more.
Cheers guys

Glad to hear it's not the worst it could be, DS Better safe than sorry, I figure.

Oh come on. Don't act all insulted when my remark was nowhere near offensive.
