Is it possible that the machine was turned on automatically - and in this case accidentally so - by closing the door? Of course, even the behaviour I described would still constitute an abhorrent degree of cruelty, irresponsibility and stupidity on the mother's part. I am not enough of a legal expert to assess if the fact that the mother was being held on grounds of "just" child endangerment is any indication that the authorities were leaning towards "my" version at the time when the report was written.
It's the 2 different washing machines (if true) that get me. Locking her in a machine as punishment is one thing, incredibly cruel, but to have money in the machine, swap the child from another and then close the door.......I can't find much "innocence" in that. I'm no laundry expert but I've not found one you can immediately open once it's started.

The ones that have the side door do not open when they start to prevent people from opening it when it is full of water. With the side door machines you really have to watch your kids around. The advantage of the side doors is you can stack them which makes them good for busy cleaners.

Okay,,,try this scenario. She realizes that the top-load would not look like an accident as she wanted to the scene to appear that the kid climbed in on it's own. Therefore, she goes to the front loader, as it would be more apt to be able to be climbed into while mom was busy. Then she pretends to scream and rant because she cannot get the door open, when in fact she knew that nobody would be able to open the door...thus successfully killing the kid. She did not anticipate a policeman being able to break the glass with his stick, or at least not in time.

That scenario seems most likely, but whatever way you put it she's just a worthless bitch. I hope she gets locked away for the rest of her life.

Question Mark

Ramon, she may not have intended harm, as you suggest, but one does not lock a child into a washing machine as a punishment. Period.

Was she blonde? Since we have people putting pets in microwaves to dry them.. perhaps this mother was putting her child in a washing machine to clean her. I know, unlikely story, but there are alot of very stupid people out there...

I was going to say the same thing andrewas said Azred...

nice scenario larry... very possible... even before that, i cannot imagine how some parents could even think that... just the thought... they don't even cringe at it... and they even realize such a insult to such a great gift that has been offered to them...
