and i dont JUST watch my freinds die all the time, I said i do that on occasion, most of the time i'm actually the spontaneous leader, charging my good allies off into whimsical battle against evil forces and what-not... and if im not doing that... the wizard is... and i've learned to not piss off the wizard

one of two things. it's said that players often act the way they do during a game as a way they see it they as a person would act. however, it is suggested that players do not act out their characters as they themselves would act out a situation, but think as the character and how they would accomplish the task (a little confusing, i know )

the other thing is that it's just a game, and that humor makes the game all the more enjoyable. perhaps your friends saw this as humorous, in fact, most would (except those serious players, but who plays with them? ).. what i'm trying to say is, it's best to get over things, especially when you didn't even participate in the act.

i can give you a few examples. one time, there was the dm, one of my friends, and myself. my friend was a necromancer (if i recall correctly) and i was a dwarf fighter. i think we were in the midst of fighting an ogre, and being low lvl, i didn't want to lose a char i just created. so my friend went ahead, attacked the beast, and killed it. later, he was a little steamed when i asked about the treasure (go figure). to point out the humor part of playing, same people, but one extra player. my friend and i very much disliked this other player, as he didn't really appreciate the roleplaying value of the game, just wanted god chars. anyways, this person played a thief and the both of us were the same as above. we were moving down a staircase, my friend first, then myself, then the other person, and it was trapped. my friend made it across with a successful reflex save, and i jumped across. now, the humor in this is that the thief jumped, fell short, fell down... and died. i think he only had 3 hp.. ad&d/d&d will provide you with hours of entertainment, and i advise that you enjoy the hours you have to play, rather than grumble over details.

I occasionally stand on the side lines and wait for my freinds to all die before leaping in and finishing off the damaged monsters
That sounds more like evil than neutral to me. A Chaotic Neutral mustn't be only evil, he must act impulsively, both good and evil. And Chaotic Neutral doesn't = insane. A Chaotic Neutral character can still think coherently, he's just more likely to act on whim than deep thought.

And it's called alignment, not class Fighter is a class

Chaotic Neutrals are the kind of alignment that doesn't give a shit about good and evil, law or chaos or any kind of cosmic balance. They just do what they feel like, sometimes they'll suddenly refrain because of feeling nice, other times they won't.

Just doing whatever you want and not caring about anyone else is Chaotic Evil, not Chaotic Neutral.
Chaotic Neuturals are still most likely to be crazy. In BGs, the examples for CN were "Lunatics and madmen" .
Btw, /)eathkiller, CN is my favourite alignment .
I am Neutural Evil(my second fav alignment ).

hmm, a great idea but i still do grumle over this . When they found the GPs, the DM said they can do that. Then they just took advantage of the oppritunity.
