I didn't play Civ 2 before playing Civ 3 and when I saw all the guys saying that Civ 2 was better (and Civ 3 was already one of my favourite games) I decided to give it a try and I just couldn't play it. I missed the ressources, the luxuries and the culture. This 3 things are the best innovation in a civ-like game.

And don't forget: when you get bored, increase the difficulty or get a mod.

Well, Civ2 has a great hot-seat option, I really missed playing with my brother in Civ3... But, game is a bit too slow so I don't build any army, I always win by culture!

-is it nice Lord?

Sounds like your CD-ROM is having some troubles with the CD protection. All you can do is to contact support and ask for help. I´m sure they will have a solution for you.

I´ve played the entire Civ series and I love it! Civ 2 is IMO by far the best but Civ 3 is great as well. There are some features I just don´t like though, the auto-builder is one. Corruption is way messed up as well. It´s completely reversed from Civ 2. Perhaps they should have put it in between those games, not either 0 or 100 %.
If that is the case, I would recomend downloading a NOCD crack. Which is completly legal when you own the game I recall that this solved alot of preformance problems with Morrowind

Civ 3 can be a complex game.. I got it when it came out and played for two weeks never actually finishing it. The pace just got too slow and finally AI clunked the whole game. You see, there is one thing in Civ 3 that I especially hate, and that is the enemy AI which builds it´s cities anywhere it likes. Here I have my large peaceful Roman empire where everyone is happy and nobodys in war, when all of sudden lonely english worker moves inlands as if there was no borders at all, and builds a city into the center of your empire (there was a tiny piece of land unpopulated). Goodbye peace, you cannot watch while they eat up your resources and once you go to war without proper reason, you will likely get more enemies at you than just the englishmen. It is not my tactic to build cities next to each other so that there is no room between them, it just doesn´t work.

And partly because of this I dumped the game, and Civ 2 holds the crown as the best game of all games having the word Civilization in them.

The English are stealing your land?
Actually, NiceWorg, that sounds very realistic
