Thanks. That figures that they are useless, but my bishop has merged so many potions for sale that we now again have more money than sense. I do want to try it just because I can. The blunderbuss seems less effective than a bow as well, but I will keep trying out of boredom...

Are you saying you don't need to do the dummy thing at the firing range, or are you saying use normal melee and ranged weapons on them?

If the latter, I'm going to scream.
Start screaming.

You can't use melee on them but you can use bows and slings. Any party member who can learn the Modern Weapon skill, and is under 10 points, gets credit to 10 in the skill any way.

If no one has MW skill, or you don't want to develop it, then you can just walk away after getting the Launcher.

Its the perfect place to boost Ranged Combat, Bow, Throwing & Sling, and Modern Weapon. But that's another discussion...

The advantage of Blunderbuss is the high damage (it also has a critical bonus, but you don't get any bonus from ammo, so that tends to even out).
Unlike bow/sling/xbow, the damage isn't influenced by the character strength. So its an option for a ranger who raises only speed and dex to get many shots per round.

Thanks everyone for answering for me. I just got home from work. The Blunderbuss is not a bad weapon at all. My Ranger used it a few lvls, but I killed Kunar earlier and ammo was too hard to get.
