The first three books of Dragonlance were very enjoyable and quick reads. Good comedic relief when needed. WoTC didn't own the TSR license when it was written back in the day. I haven't liked any of the new weis, hickman stuff however.

The Twins trilogy was just the best I think. Yes, WoTC are almost forcing out new novels. Back in the day the realms was a huge mysterious place.

DragonLance is the sort of thing that seems really cool when you're 13, but there's really no excuse for liking it beyond that.
Kinda like Harry Potter. |

I have to agree to a point. I read the twins trilogy (the sequel to the original novels) when I was about 14-ish and loved it. Then, only about two years ago did I finally read the original novels (Dragons of XX), expecting a great adventure story but instead, found them horribly simplistic and cliche. I guess reading them backwards wasn't the best thing to do.
Weis and Hickman did get better as they went on and are capable of some amazing and deep storytelling. Stories like Darksword I felt were more adult and far more immersive and these were written pretty early on too. The later prequels like Soulforge were actually quite charming to read, kind of takes you back a bit. In these books you can see just how much the authors have grown in their writing and style.

I just feel that the underlying philosophy being espoused is just a tad too easily spotted once you've got a few years behind you and know some stories aren't told just to be stories, but are instead meant to be hidden advertisements for certain ethics, morals and religions.
Despite being as easily seen through, though, I always felt Death Gate was better written and in general a better story than Dragonlance. |

Is this a cartoon series? I'll still watch it, of course...but the actors are all credited as "voices".

Could be full CGI. After all, they're going to need tons of dragons, monsters and magic. Hell, they'd probably need more green-screen time than real stuff if they decided to do it the "normal" way and then just patch the other stuff on.
