Hmmm....I seem to recall that Wands of Sleep and/or Fear can be used by people like Clerics and Thieves. I know for a fact that Wands of Magic Missiles can be used by anyone, but who likes Wands of MM anyway.

Bards can also use all Mage wands.

Oops, I forgot that. ^^;
But his party does not have a bard so that doesn't help him at the moment.
