Dundee does this only under certain circumstances.

1) The person has a bug that prevent further continuation, and patches do not seem to work. Dundee will use the save game to help the person advance the stuck point then return back the save game.

2) Advice and tactics from others have failed to help the person win a particular battle. Dundee will then take a crack at that battle to see if it is really impossible( so far the answer is no).

One particular memorable game was fighting Improved Sendai with a Sorcerer and Minsc with no Robe of Vecna, no Staff of Magi and no Project Image... and Minsc's weapons were Battleaxes +3... what a battle.

The end batttle is tough, but winnable. I've done it. It took me several times and plenty of saves, and I save whenever possible. Breach, Pierce Magic are important spells. As are Summon Deva, Planetar, Elemental Summoning, etc. Anything that gets you high level summoned creatures. Elemental Summoning may be the best since sometimes you get an Elemental Prince. Also next time you play try being a Paladin- Undead Hunter. He is immune to level drain (very, very useful) and hold spells. He is also able to use the Carsomyr, +5 Holy Avenger (may be upgraded to +6 with the Eye of Tyr or some other add on). The Holy Avenger is the best weapon in the game in my humble opinion. You can get to 70+% magic resistance with it and an amulet and the Ring of Gaxx (another useful item).

You can win the last battle, but it will take a number of times. Also try to load up on superior healing potions (to save spells). Clerics with mass raise dead and mass cure spells are musts also.

To my mind, your party is a little top heavy in fighters, but I guess that can't be changed now.

I disagree. Level Drain immunity is cheap, since all paladins' kits can use the Amulet of Power. Of course, your Mage will usually wear it, but you can give it for your Paladin for specific encounters like vampire hunting.
I find both the Inquisitor and the Cavalier way superior to the Undead Hunter, due to the fact that in ToB, unlike SoA, Undead is nothing compared to the sheer abundance of Mages and Demons.

Besides, Charm and Hold are saveable - and your frontliners' should have negative saves anyway by then.

Carsomyr's MR cannot be stacked with other items, because it doesn't add MR - it sets MR.

Which is something I could never live with - I had a choice : either give up on Carsomyr as a MR-giving weapon, or change it so that it *adds* resistance, as does the Purifier.

Hmm ... difficult choice .....

Carsomyr's MR can be stacked. I currently have a MR of 80 in the game. %50 for the Carsomyr, 10 % from an Amulet, 10% from the Ring of Gaxx and 10% by taking one of the Good paths in the "Tears of Bhaal" end of SOA. It will try to reset the MR to 60 (the Carsomyr and my natural MR). But when you unequip and equip the Ring of Gaxx and the Amulet it will set it to 80. It will stay at 80 for a while. I have read that this is an error in the program that it resets the MR. But you can have a MR of 80. I have done it and am in TOB right now with it. I just have to unequip and reequip the items after I'm already equiped with the Carsomyr.

Thanks for the welcome!

Can the Amulet of Power be equiped by a fighter class? I seem to think it can't. And Restoration spells bite, so I love the Undead Hunter.

The "Magic Resistance resets after swinging Carsomyr" rule does indeed apply, but (in my game, anyway) it takes a few seconds to kick in. I started a new game, hacked in Carsomyr, and tested it: After killing the Mephit, Carsomyr's MR was still stacking with my other MR sources, but soon afterward it dropped back down to 50%.

(As a side note, imagine my surprise when I used the Holy Avenger on the Jailkeep Golem and got "Jailkeep Golem was immune to my damage." If Irenicus can have minions like THAT, why does he even bother to pay Illyich?)

[ADD]: Before patching your game, the Amulet of Power could be worn by Mages, Sorcerers, Bards, Clerics, Druids, and Monks. After installing the patch, Rangers and Paladins can use it as well, but Monks cannot.

I agree the MR will reset to the Carsomyr plus your base, so I just automatically unequip and equip the Ring of Gaxx and the Amulet before every combat. Kind of bites that I have to do that, but hey, the Paladin with the Casomyr is a enough of a bad A$$ to get me to put up with it.

I don't have any of the patches. I need to get the Internet at home.
