I figured you had SotSB up and running already before I made my post. But I do get emails and inquiries from time to time from people that are trying to get the games to run, or people who aren't familiar with DOSBox. The walkthrough should help some people out. I'll probably make some more of them for use with other games on my site too.

Its not hard to use from Dos command prompt. In fact, yoyu could write a simple batch file to do the commands for it. I know this kinda shows my age, talking about DOS.

Once I have Dosbox running, it's no problem. I've just had a wee bit of a time mounting the linux folders where I have the games that I want to run.

Since I've been snowed in for the last few days, now that I have a bit of time, I thought I might try to work on the ice walls for the crevasse level. This is a first try. I guess It's back to the palette chalk-board.

Looks pretty nice!
![]() I worked on an ice wall for a few days once - and then noticed that I had been working with a strangely sized canvas. And that was that! ![]()

The screenshot is with attempt 1. Attempt 2 has a palette that more closely matches the background and looks better b/c of it while attempt 3 ended up looking like blue drapes.

I wish some of my attempts would go somewhere.
![]() I mean that metaphorically for some, and literally for tohers. |

As for decrypting the maps of any Gold Box game.
If you can import a FRUA game to Dungeon Crawl format that suggests that you have a fair grasp of the mechanics of the former. Now FRUA was produced by the same company that did all the other Gold Box games, hence there is likely to be a lot of similarity in the way the level data is compiled for each game. (Using level in the DC sense to mean a town/dungeon or outdoor area.) If you can decrypt the level files in a FRUA design then you have a better chance of decrypting SSB levels. Now in FRUA you can compare the compiled level files with what you are seeing when you edit the design in the FRUA program. Edit: I am assuming here that no-one can get access to the source code of FRUA or SSB, if they could that would make the job far easier. Edit: "Dungeon Crawl" should be Dungeon Craft.
