it'll also give magic users a better chance, ie a lightning bolt doesn't have to start from the casters hands, the mage can move the starting point of the bolt anywhere within his casting area, IIRC fireballs work the same way, ie they don't have to give themselves away by casting. it also gives other "sneaky" classes a better chance, as the combat isn't just hack & slash.

EXCELLENT IDEA, MORGERUAT!!!

I agree with Morgan, we can use more suggestions like this!!

I'll be happy to do this. It can still be done in the "warehouse district", unless you just specifically want a woodland setting. The terrain will be REAL, though - no illusions. The mages employed by the Octagon will simply "follow the action" using Wizard Eye. The images will then be "projected" to a large screen erected on the top wall behind both entrance gates.

These are the fights I have scheduled so far:

1. Grindall/Knuckles vs Oorgh/Kharn (tag team match)
2. Lorath vs Caleb (in the warehouse district)
3. Dravin Kyoto vs Bacardi (two newcomers to the Octagon)
4. Knuckles vs Oorgh (in the Hide-n-Seek match)

I have tactics for Dravin vs Bacardi, so I will start with that one. I need tactics from Oorgh and Kharn in the tag team match (although I can probably guess what they'll be) and for the newest fight.

I just remembered that I also have tactics for Caleb and Lorath, so they should be set also.

I would also like some suggestions from the players on another aspect of the Octagon.....WHAT TO CALL THE OCTAGON MEMBERS!!!

It isn't accurate to call mages "fighters"...and "gladiators" is already used...so any-and-all suggestions for a nickname for our arena warriors would be greatly appreciated. Post your suggestions openly, so everyone can vote (or at least voice their opinion).

Edited because I can NEVER spell Morgeruat's name right.

lol, I had the same problem, I had originally intended my name to be Morguerat (Morgue-rat), but I zipped through registration and didn't notice until it was too late, and I was too lazy to just reregister.

Warehouse district is fine for the fight, I'll prepare my tactics and PM them to you before the night is out. (for both upcoming fights)

BTW Knuckles' LVL is 6, not 5 (on the main page) a cosmetic error, but one that may mislead my opponents

Editted to remove sig

Well since I will already be at the warehouse is it to late to join your hide and seek battle and embarass both of you? The fight promoters could call it "The peoples champion lays the smack down on a large ugly fairy and a short smelly toddler" I know that doesnt exactly roll off the tongue but it would be more accurate dont you think?

For Oorgh and Knuckles (and maybe Caleb)

I need to know what preference you would give to the weapons you find. What would you take first? Would you choose a sword over a bow? Hand-hurled weapons over a crossbow? Or smaller weapons over pole-arms.

List the top 3 preferences you would have from this list:

Pole-arms
Large swords (2-hand/bastard/long/scimitar)
Small swords (short/kopesh/dagger)
Ranged missile weapons (bow/crossbow)
Hand-hurled missile weapons (hammer/sling/dagger/axe)

There will be NO axes. Since you are fighting without your equipment, there is no reason to equip you with a weapon your proficient with.

That would take ALL the fun out of it.

hey Cerek, what would you say to a large quest for the combatants. i was thinking along the lines of a dragon that has invaded the area, and the townsfold turned to the famed warriors of the octagon for assistance. maybe not a dragon, but SOME form of quest. this way, the ones involved would have an opportunity to work together, and strengthen the bonds of friendship in the arena. any items and gold would be split equally of course. if a character kills an opponent, he keeps the item. (unless he cant use it or doesnt want it.) if its a dragon or something equally challenging, maybe there is a horde or something that we can all get an item from. experience would be DIVIDED and SHARED, not getting full experience each. ie. a group of 5 killing a creature worth 300 experience get 60 experience each, not 300. this would allow us to get some experience and maybe take the octagon up a notch, instead of the same ole fight, fight, fight. now we would need to work as a team, and use tactics in order to survive. i have a group picked out for a quest if they are interested and the idea is approved. of course, maybe IM the only one who likes this idea, so if so, nevermind heh. all in favor, raise your hands (or swords)
