Well, that was an entertaining first quarter.

Fourth goal? I thought the first one by Lahm was pure brilliance. I'm anti-German, though, so I was cheering as the Costa Ricans scored twice (shame they didn't get the equalizer in once more )

I think Ivelliis is referring to the sixth goal of the game, Germany's fourth by Frings.

I understood which goal he meant, but I disagree. I though Lahm's goal was better than Frings'.

I'm not sure, they were both fantastic although that ball really swings in the air, making it much harder for the keeper. Wanchope's goals weren't bad either.

Poland Ecuador isn't that bad as I thought it would be.

Geez Poland look average. All that possession and all those chances and they can't buy a goal. To be fair to them, two shots hit the woodwork within 5mins of each other. Ecuador looked pretty good, I thought they went into their shell and played an Italian-style catannacio game after going into the lead but the buildup to their 2nd goal was class.

I've never seen Germany so vulnerable before, defensively i mean. Offensively they can still keep up appearances, but as soon as they'll face an opponent that puts the slightest bit of pressure on them, they'll completely fall apart. What the hell happened to them over the years ? Even the British were poking fun at them this afternoon on BBC1, something like "this time we have a really good reason to underestimate the Germans" came out of Lineker's mouth. Kinda made me chuckle.

And then the Polish...what a major dissapointment. For the first time in years they have a young promising team, and then this...

I guess we whitnessed the first upset of this tournament today.
