How do you knock someone out without killing them? I'm trying to complete Ignaz's Oblivion quest. I'm assuming that if you attack someone, and their HP goes down all the way (thus gaining XP), you've *killed* them. So how do you knock someone down/out?
Any help is appreciated. Regards, Michael [ 01-08-2004, 02:08 PM: Message edited by: RitingFool ] |

I think you have overdone the knocking out thingy. When a "friendly" NPC is attacked, he/she will only fall unconscious when the hit point is reduce to zero.
However, if you attack him/her while in unconscious state, your avatar will use his melee weapon to "twist and pierce" on the enemy's body and kill the poor guy. YOU MURDERER! Do take note that it is NOT possible for you to knock out an enemy using spell nor missile weapons. Oh, while we are on the subject, do try the spell on Valentino. He usually walks home at 4 a.m. and there are some good places to ambush him without being seen. Mwahahaha. [ 01-08-2004, 02:19 PM: Message edited by: Paladin2000 ]

I've never attacked someone while unconscious, since I thought they were dead already! So then, how do I cast Oblivion on my "unconscious" person? I have it pre-equipped to the "4" key (with the hotkey cheat), and can see it glowing in my hand, but pressing 4 again just seems to unequip it.
Any further help is appreciated. Regards, Michael |

Nope. The NPC in question is only passed out.
Follow the instruction as below: 1. equip the spell scroll. 2. knock out the your victim. 3. press 4 (or any key corresponding to the spell scroll). Your avatar will shealth his weapon and do his "spell casting stance". 4. Press the attack button (CTRL) to cast the spell. Now, get away before anyone sees you! RUN, Forest, RUN!! You forgot about using the UP arrow key with CTRL, but it ended up working. Thanks a bunch!
