Okay, so with all of the mods I've got on the "old girl", I thought I'd start from scratch with a nice fresh reinstall and only add the plug-ins I'm really using. Good idea? Wrong, 'cause now the p*xy 'puter only seems to read the wretched things as The Elder Scrolls Construction Set File, and not their correct extension. Of course I can't use them in that capacity, despite the fact that each and every one has the right file extension which the computer is happy to list for my edification. Grrrr!.
So then, I thought I'd try opening them up in TES, then saving them again (just the data files) with the computer (hopefully) realising what they really are and act accordinlgy. No deal. Apparently, there isn't a "TES.exe" in the listed directory, despite the fact that I can go in and view it in explorer, or open up the TES completely. Not wishing to grumble, but I've just spent the whole day reinstalling everything, and I'm at a loss as to the cause of the problem. Any ideas people? You're help, as I'm sure you're aware, would be greatly appreciated. ![]() Brass

Just trying to clarify the problem.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but are you saying that when you look at the directory in Windows Explorer that under the 'Type' column it is showing 'The Elder Scrolls Construction Set File'. If so then this would be because Windows has associated files with that particular extension with the the Construction Set program and thus displays this in the type field. Can these files still be selected as add-in for the main Morrowing program? Cheers Craig |

Have you done all of the simple stuff?
Made sure all of the files were unzipped, and stored in the morrowind game datafiles folder? I had one mod that I had similar problems with, but was able to resolve it by "unzipping" instead of opening it. Good Luck Felix

It sounds to me exactly as stated above, that you're trying to open them from Winzip or a similar program instead of unzipping them into the Morrowind Data directory first (sort of like trying to run an .exe program without installing it first).
Follow the directions for each plugin (where to unzip). Then open TES, select the file and click on Set as Active. Let the file load, save again, and repeat for each mod. [ 02-06-2003, 12:21 PM: Message edited by: Rhea ] |
