Hi! I'm new here and I want to ask a question to those who mastered 'solo' playing:
Have You ever tried to soloplay with 'pure' fighter? I mean not dual classed Kensai-Mage killing machines, but 'clean' fighter (e. g. Berserker or some Paladin kit) I just love to watch them slaying around, but I'm wondering how they will be at the middle/end of the game. Oh, and another one: whitch is the best site for character portraits? Thnx! ------------------ War, war never changes... [This message has been edited by Raver (edited 06-08-2001).] |

Depends what you mean by soloplaying. If you mean using just one user created character and a party of NPC's then it's entirely possible. My party consists of my main character(a pure fighter with no kits or dual classes), Minsc, Keldorn, Anomen and Haer'Dalis. The only magic support I have is Nalia. I actually prefer this way as you have to concentrate on tactics quite a bit without relying on magical overkill.
By the way, welcome to the board! [This message has been edited by Kinslayer (edited 06-08-2001).] [This message has been edited by Kinslayer (edited 06-08-2001).] |

Magic Overkill is non existent in high level battles!!!!!!!
Read my thread on "only spells you need" I have 3 full mages in my party and all they do is cast breach and true sight for my fighters. You can hardly kill a lich by spells...very hard! |

No, with 'solo' I mean to compleate the game using ONLY one character. (I think it's quite popular for 'hardcore' gamers)

I'd think that was near impossible as any character! Plus you'd miss out on all the NPC quests. On the other hand I suppose you'd level up quicker as you're not sharing XP but towards the end of the game all characters should be approaching their maximum XP anyway.

Once you got some sort of mind protecting magic item you'd do okay. Just have to get used to getting rid of traps by running into them. I think you'd be spending a lot of time in temples getting your levels restored too. Mages would be hard as you tried to survive till their protection from spells ran out. It's possible to play the game with any character solo. You just have to rethink your tactics, be sneaky and very patient. I'm not and I like the NPCs so I don't think I could play it right through solo. I might try with my fighter one day. Solo of course is a good way to reach the TOB experience cap.

Soloing isn't that hard. You just have to remember that a lot of the more difficult battles are unnecessary, because you don't need the xp's (but it's always nice to try though
![]() I finished BG2 with a solo monk not so long ago, and the hardest part was getting out of the first dungeon... all those mephits ![]() |

Either a helm of charm protection, Lilarcor or the saving grace shield. Anything that will stop you getting confused. LIlarcor is good because you can't be held either. The greenstone amulet is handy because it protects a bit from psychic attacks. Cloak of mirrors is a must have.

Ok, I forgot one more question - about exp. cap remover(or whatever). Will this program work on started games or I need to start from the begining after using it?
And 'Cloak of mirrors', where to get one? Thnx (again) ------------------ War, war never changes... |
