I heard you could pick pocket him again in the planar sphere to give you...3 rings of the ram. Never tried it myself, so I couldn't be sure it works.

Tried pickpocketing a pigeon last night! I don't know if Imoen is a crappy thief or the pigeon was keeping a close eye on it's belongings b/c everytime I tried all I got was "pickpocket failed"
