1st and foremost WELCOME TO IRONWORKS!!
To defeat TorGal (easily)- make a character invisible. Go into the room (only with the invisible character) to initiate the dialogue, then only TorGal will attack, and u can lead him back to ur party. And Nalia Wont hide in Shadows because shes too low a level- her HIS ability is too low, and theres nothing u can do to fix it since she duelled to Mage. |

Thanks...I tried leading the Targal back to another room, that guy seems to not respond to any spell! And being this is my first game ever, how do I go invisible?
Thanks...This is a fun site! |

U can either Hide In Shadows (dont use Nalia though- Jan, Yoshimmo, and Valygar all can aswell), or u can cast the mage spells "Invisibility" or "IMproved Invisibility"... I think both of these can be purchased in Waukeens Promenade.

Spoilers possible
. . . . . . . . . . . . . Well, you don't need to be invisible at all. All you really need with Tor'Gal is to beat him hard till he falls. You can get him alone without messing with invisibility as well. What you could do first, is to tell who you have in your party and what levels, that will make it easier. Few tips - if you have Yoshimo in your group, set some traps (or all of them) on the stairs. Once traps are set (special ability Yoshi has, Snares and Special Snares), leave the group in the previous room, but close to the door so that no one could get through the doorway without bumping into your group. Now TURN OFF the "Party AI", to prevent the group members running like headless gooses through the door to charge the trolls. The room I am speaking about is the one where Umber Hulks were in, hopefully you have killed them by this time. Move the weaker party members (casters, thieves) a bit back, make sure they have ranged weapons. You should have by that time quite few potions of "Oil of Speed", let the tanks each take a sip. Healers should ready healing spells (i.e. have them memorized), mage types have some offensive spells ready (i.e. Melf's Acid Arrow, Flame Arrow, Magic Missile, Melf's Minute Meteors, such). Save the game. Now, move the main char (if he/she is a tank) inside, on the stairs and move him/her carefully further, by small "steps". Eventually Tor'Gal will see you and talk to you, and after that, attack you. Immediately run back to the group and wait there. When Tor'Gal get's close to the stairs, he will get damaged by the traps set there earlier. Wont kill him, but soften up nicely. Now he will run to the door, but he cannot enter the room because your group is there, so he will attack you through doorway. You beat him back with the whole team. Let the casters smack the occasional offensive spell (like Magic Missile and so on), but make sure that the mage will have at least 3 acid arrow or 3 flame arrow spells left, if none of your group has any weapon with those elemetal damages. Trolls can be "permanently" killed by fire or acid. As soon as Tor'Gal falls, shoot him with either acid or fire arrow spell. If your archers have acid or fire arrows, it's easier and you can use the spells during the combat freely. As for why to attack like this at the doorway - that is in case Tor'Gal wont come alone. If his buddies will join up, at least they cannot attack you too since only one of them fits through the doorway at the same time. So the doorway acts like a "filter" and lets you fight one of them at a time. All this spells are from lvl 1-3, so easily useable. For this you don't need high lvl party, around lvl 10 will do. Tor'Gal will die like any other troll you already met, he just may have tad more HP and hit tad harder.

Party makeup plays a role here, too... for any kind of major fight, we have historically taken the cheap way out... four simultaneous fireballs...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will try today. The only character that seems to be able to do the shadow thing is Nalia. For some reason Yoshimo leveled up and doesn't have those abilities anymore. Nalia is the only one who can still detect and disarm traps. I hear she is going to be arrested, at least that is what happened to my husband. Oh, by the way he was wondering how to kill vampires?? He is ahead of me on the game and is getting his butt kicked by them!

To Kill Vamps, it is strongly recomended that u have the Priest Spell Negative plane Protection. This will prevent their level drain ability- without that, theyre wimps.
Also, ur husband may have an item called the amulet of power, this has a Negative PLane Protection effect while equiped. This will help him with the Vamps... and give him 1 more priest spell. And the NPP should go on ALL characters who are meleeing the Vamps. |

Since this game has LOTS of undead creatures who can cause no end of grief, I made my main man a paladin specialized as an Undead Hunter. He is immune to nasty things like vampire/shadow level drain and mummy disease. I send him and the cleric with the Amulet of Power [Negative Plane Protection] out to engage the undead and have the rest stand back and use missile weapons.
As soon as you can afford it, buy the axe "AzureEdge" in the adventurers market. You can throw it and it returns to your hand and it does bonus damage to undead. Enjoy the game - it will be months of pleasure, especially once you learn what tactics and spells work best on which enemies.
