Hello Everyone,

Since I'm a new person here at ironworks... (tho I've been reading the posts forawhile in here. I just recently signed up), I thought I could introduce my party.

Anyway here is a quick overview for my party. I've 2 humans, 2 mooks and 2 fairies. A male and a female in each race. That way the power struckle between the sexes is fairly even. .

Bombay is a human male samurai, currently at level 10.
Tangerine is a human female ranger, currently at level 10.

Butterfinger (nick name Tricker) is a male mook gadgeteer, currently at level 11.
Argentina is a female mook bard, currently at level 11.

FireFly is a male fairy bishop, currently at level 10.
TundraWasp is a female fairy mage, currently at level 11.

Right now my party is getting rested for the great battle against the rattkin breeders. . My magic casters are in great condition. I love TundraWasp's dehydrate spell. I have to say it is one of the best spells she got right now. My main fighters; Bombay and Tangerine are awesome. I love bombay's lighting speed sword. What comes to the mooks... heh... they're good company... but make great punching bags too. I'm awful to talk about my mooks that way. Pretty soon I've the whole mook planet after me. ... but yes... they are strong and almost as good as my main fighters. .

Ok... so that's my party. If you got any comments, feel free to share. .

Greetings,

TundraWasp

Hey all and MasterPooBaa,

Everyone has their own preferences I suppose. I chose a mage instead of another healer and defensive magic. I like to use offensive magic. I have found that having healing magic becomes fairly useless in the long run when the guys are having up to 200 hit points. LOL.

The power of enemies and the damage these enemies can produce grows too as the game goes along... BUT... when you got a mage who makes 100 point damage to an enemy in one spell, there is no need for healers plus the other damage what the other members of my party are able to produce. .

However as I said everyone has to choose when choosing magic casters (if they want any magic casters at all that is) if they want their magic casters to be healers or hurters. I definetly prefer hurters. . I have such a violent nature. .

If you guys and masterpoobaa would like to add anything, go ahead.

Greetings,

TundraWasp

a bard and a gadgeteer. hmmm..kinda a waste here. because both can perform almost the same thing. but gadgetter is better because of omnigun.

might as well change the bard into more combat oriented character.

Hey Kakero,

I don't know what I was thinking when selecting a bard. I'm going to change her into something else but not yet.

I've had lots of fun using viola'd'amour on NPCs... lol.

In non-combat situations I make Argentina to play violin of love and then Firefly casts mindreads... or argentina goes ahead with pickpocketing. I've collected some money, odd items and very puzzling thoughts that way. However I've no idea how to use the information gained that way.

The bard's ability of playing certain instruments can certainly speed up the starting process in a battle. I normally use in a battle (from sofar found instruments) angels tongue, snare of delay and sirens veil meanwhile FireFly (bishop) can do some more damaging spells.

Now with the gadgeteer I haven't had so much fun than with the bard thought. The omnigun is cool... and I like the gadgets. They're nifty too. . I haven't had much use for the talents of the gadgeteer yet. Surely I don't have so much little parts of gadgets to carry around now when I got a gadgeteer who can put them together. .

Greetings,

Next party, you may want to try 2 bishops, each studying 2 spell books. I like the mage/psionic and priest/alchemist combinations, as both can then learn portal and summon elemental, heal all, etc. and both get some very nice high end super damage spells.

Due to the huge amount of spells they will have access to, you'll want to have the alchemest alchemizing from very early on: large amounts of cash are needed, and if you have the fortitude to save at least 3 extra spell picks for when you ge access to level 7 spells. [rememger though: don't let them acquire more than one million gold: counter resets to zero. If need be, buy and hoarde spell books till your gang can use them.]

Once they have both their primary books up to the 75 level [at which time you can't add more skill points, they have to be earned] you can start adding points to their third and even fourth books.

Bishops end up with much higher mana than other casters, and when both can do things like heal all and the basic buffs, it makes the party much more versatile.

Just a thought, of course: I finished the game with [almost] the first party I created, and was very emotionally attached to them. Honestly though, my current gang of 4 could totally kick the @$$ of that old party: have learned a lot from this group about the art and science of party building.

Nothing wrong with having a Bard and Gadgeteer in the same group to me, they just will need the Bishop to cast rest all alot to recharge their stamina. I had a party with both, the Gadgy opened locks, the Bard PP'ed, and there is not much overlap in terms of the spells the gadgets and musical instruments produce. The Gadgeteer is more a ranged fighter because the omnigun gets so good; I would leave him pure just for it to improve. The Bard I would usually switch over to fighter, and would be using as a melee character with bloodlust prior to that. I didn't bother with Int with bards, went more for str/dex and some vit. Also I don't like faeries because their equipment is so limited (unless it's the faerie ninja), so I ended up going with either elves or felpurrs as bishops.

In an early party, i too had a fairy bishop (along with an elfen one). But bishops can use a lot of armor and weapons, and fairies are very restricted, so i wouldn't do that again. And you'll find just enough useful items to equip one fairy, but not two.

For a mage, fairy is a good choice, because they are very resitriced by the class.

For bard and gadgeteer: I too had a party with both of them. IMO bard is much more powerful than gadgeteer early (unlimited shrill sound and insanity early is ... insane).

for me, I find bishop and mage are useless because of their low HP. and other character have the same magic as bishop and mage have. and also bishop and mage can't fight well in melee. since my gamestyle mainly concerntrate on melee.

No one has the same magic the Bishop has, ie, the ability to cast from all four books. And no other class gains mage spells as quickly as the mage, plus the mage gets +25% in that school. The hybrid classes get spells more slowly and don't get any bonus to the realm they cast from, and are much harder to develop as powerful casters and melee fighters; almost impossible without using training techniques or having a really small party. I also like melee heavy parties, but I would always have a bishop (or two) around, and a priest is a great melee party "battery" and support character (by the time I was in my final party I had decided I liked having a pure priest around more than a bard or gadgy, and I hated them at first, thought they were so weak). But you can certainly succeed with no pure casters, to each his own - it makes the early stages of the game alot harder though for sure.
