Wow, it's been a long time since I posted here. And sorry to you too Manikus for spawning the idea of a design contest for DC then pretty much going AWOL right after. I got just crazy busy in November/December/January and barely had time for myself, let alone do anything with DC...You had some great ideas too about how the contest should be run. Who knows...someday maybe...

But for now, I have a wee little announcement I guess...

I think I will have a little mod ready for playtesting soon...Like maybe even by the end of next week (02/23/03). It's small (only 1 level) but I wanted to do it just to get really familiar with DC designing (just pure design, not artwork, etc). Which is why I decided to use only the art that comes with the DC package. That's right. That way I could focus on design and story and not be bogged down for 6 months trying to create art, because an artist I ain't! So, needless to say it won't be visually stunning, but it should be kind of fun to play.

So I guess what I need to know is...is there maybe a couple of peeps who can help me playtest it. It's a small mod, and probably won't take more than a couple of hours to play at most. So, that being said, who wants to do it? Alternatively, I could just 'release' it too. what do you all think?

welcome back, tarlanon!

i'd love to playtest your dungeon craft design! for the next 12 weeks or so, i'm going to have nothing but free time.

as far as using the default art, well at this point it's still new to everybody.

since we last heard from you, richard's been working on spells and i've put together a little faq (which can be found at my site).

Hey, sounds good! Once I get it 'done' I'll get around to e-mailing it to you or something to try out.

Something I should mention, while it is using pretty much the DC defaults, the adventure is taking place in my own 'world'. Back in the 'day', I used to play the D&D pen and paper stuff, but since my wife cares very little for that old hobby of mine, all my resources are tucked away in a dusty box under the house. As such, it will most certainly NOT adhere to D&D rules, nomenclature, etc. And to be honest, it's just more fun to create my own rules anyway. Just kind of a heads up, because I know the die hard D&D fans are, ahem, sticklers for rules.

i hear you on this one. it's been years since i've been able to break out the books. and i've always thought that the home grown rules and terms were a lot more fun and often make more sense- anybody can use the defaults but you've got to want to change 'em to use your own...

i await your email.
