Ok, just for variety, what are your 10 favorite Computer RPGs?
In no order whatsoever: Ultima VI Bard's Tale Wizardry I Wizard's Crown Questron Wasteland Pool of Radiance Phantasie Champions of Krynn Dragon Wars As you can see all of these are fairly old and I guess I may have to post another list of newer games, but there's ten anyway! Mark |

Great thread!
1. Dungeons of Daggorath (the best ever! I have never seen its equal, and I don't think we ever will). 2. Wizardry 1 3. Bane of the Cosmic Forge 4. Crusaders of the Dark Savant 5. Bards Tale II - The Destiny Knight 6. Eye of the Beholder 2 7. Ultima 6 (one of the few I've seen where you can buy a prostitute for 10 GP! Whee!) 8. Stonekeep 9. Wizardry 5 - Heart of the Maelstrom 10. A few NES titles...which I'll not mention to save face. |

A more modern list is as follows:
Realms of Arkania II Startrail Bane of the Cosmic Forge Stonekeep Might and Magic 7 Fallout Ultima 9 (I know I'll catch flack on this one!) Darklands (A little old.) Daggerfall Betrayal at Krondor (Adventure or RPG?) Anvil of Dawn I wonder what my ten faves of this decade will be? (Wizards & Warriors will be at the top of that list, I'm sure!) Mark |

Hmm - problem is I have only played about 10, so a top 10 list is, well ......, you get the picture.
1) Ultima Underworld II (because it was the first thing I beat without help) 2) Eye of the Beholder II 3) Wizards and Warriors (loved it, but would have liked a bit tougher endgame) 4) Ultima 9 (managed to debug my way through and avoid plot stoppers somehow) 5) Ultima Underworld (A game ahead of it's time) 6) Might and Magic 7 7) Eye of the Beholder 8) Ultima 8 (when I could get the damned thing to run) 9) Planescape Torment (am enjying that at present). No number 10 given - I couldn't honestly rate things like MM8, EOB3 and Elder Scrolls as enjoyable - perhaps the old type in ZORK (whoops, where did that GRUE come from - Lily was that you (taps foot)). From that you can see a total absence of Wizardry in my upbringing (that is going to be rectified shortly), and that I started Ultima fairly late (ie after U7 part 1). One of the best laughs I ever got, was loaning Underworld to two of my friends at work. They were both down a couple of levels, and I overheard them talking about a puzzle. The first guy was telling the second how he had searched everywhere for someone and couldn't find her anywhere. The other guy wanted to know why he was doing it. The first fellow (Tony) told George it was to complete the quest that someone had given him. George wanted to know how Tony had got this quest. By talking to him said Tony. Talk said George - how do you do that then (in his broad Scottish accent)?? By pushing the button says Tony - you know, the 4 buttons - Look, Use, Talk, and Attack. George was 4 levels down, didn't know a good guy from a bad guy, had killed anything and everything he had come across, and hadn't tried any other button except attack. After us both laughing our heads off, George was so hooked on the game that he went all the way back to the start and tried all over again. He is 53, and it was the first RPG he was ever exposed to. ------------------ Regards Davros |

Tough one; I've narrowed it down to around 15 games, and must have forgotten several that I don't own. Find it impossible to say if I enjoyed wizard's crown better then Planescape Torment, so here is just an approx. chronological list of fantasy CRPGs I really enjoyed:
Hack, Nethack (play new versions every few years) Moria, Angband and Zangband (still going strong) Wizard's Crown (Phantasie a bit less, because combat was simpler) Bard's Tale 2 (only one I played) Quest for Glory 1, 3 and 4 (perhaps not really RPG, but close) Ultima Underworld 1, 2 Stonekeep Anvil of Dawn Might and Magic 3, 4, 6, 7 The Elder Scrolls: Arena (Daggerfall just a bit less) Ravenloft 1 (and 2) Wizardry 7 (going to play the earlier ones shortly) Baldur's Gate 1 (after BG1, PS:T and IWD I had not much interest in BG2 anymore) Planescape Torment Darkstone Wizards and Warriors |

No order to these and I'll probably forget some favorites.
Wizardy 1, 2, & 3 Wizard's Crown Wasteland Phantasie Bard's Tale Magic Candle Asylum (first game I ever played on computer) Might & Magic 1 - 5 (6 I couldn't finish because the game crashed on multiple tries - 7 & 8 seemed like more of the same and while there were things I really love about these games, I find the worlds too big) Daggerfall Starflight Dragon Wars Wyv |

From what I can remember (and I'm not reading any of the others until I post, so there!):
All-time Favorite: Wizardry 7: Crusaders of the Dark Savant then... Wizards & Warriors (duh) Wizardry 6: Bane of Cosmic Forge Betrayal at Krondor TES: Daggerfall TES: Arena Might & Magic 6: Mandate of Heaven Might & Magic 7: Blood & Honor Realms of Arkania: Star Trail Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny That's limiting myself to 10. If we consider Wizards & Warriors to be a "given", then an 11th one I'd throw in (being that I counted Wizards and Warriors) would be: Wizardry 1: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord (just for the nostalgia bit). -Sazerac |

All time favourite would be Crusaders of the Dark Savant but others, in no particular order would be:
Might and Magic 6, 5, 3 and 7 in that order Bane of the Cosmic Forge Eye of the Beholder 2 (until those blooming Medusas that wouldn't stay put) and 3 Baldur's Gate 2 (hated 1 though, sorry Balgin!) Darklands Forgotten Realms Gold Boxes esp the two Pools Realms of Arkania - Star Trail Champions of Krynn Anything that isn't Ultima! Yep I can't count!
