From what i know about shandalar is that he is the hardest killable NPC (even worst than Drizzt). This is the only NPC i failed to defeat in the whole game, from the fact that i can kill drizzt by using tactics yet there is nothing i can do to Shandalar show that he is "virtually" indestructable.

Of coz if MMs can really hurt him, then killing him would be a piece of cake.

btw, y did they want him to be killable? It make no sense giving him -20 AC and 100% resistances to all elememts etc. Going by the AD&D rules no mortal mages can reached this stage no matter what. Of coz giving a 26000 xp is gorgeous in BG/ToSC but there is really no point for doing that.

He is also the mage whose house you plunder for ship parts, killing his daugters.

I don't think he is chosen, but do try a Google search, perhaps something will ring a bell (Magic: the Gathering?).

Isn't this the name of the Lich in BGII(in the Twisted Rune quest). I can't rightly remember but it seems to fit. Maybe you are supposed to kill him to have a possible way for him to be a lich

[/QUOTE]YES!!! finally figured it out! i was just messing with shadow keeper and came across Shandalars Cloak. it may be something from TotSC, i dont know, but heres the item description

Shandalars Cloak

This cloak was originally stolen from Shandalar by the powerful mage Semia, presumably for the powerful magics woven into the fabric. Although, how it has come to be in your possession and the fate of Semia are complete mysteries, and ones not likely to be solved. Much like the exact workings of the cloak which would remain a mystery even to a powerful mage.

thats where i remembered him from! aaahh, finally i can rest...
