I realize this is an old thread & Shoujo no doubt has a game to play by now but I added my 2 cents worth for anyone checking it out & wondering the same things.
: ) Moni My opinions on W&W...as far as attributes & skills go, it is a challenge to progress with only 2 or 3 bonus points to dole out per level-up compared to older Wizardry games, BUT this one gives you the opportunity to train up a point per level with enough gold & the right connections. Unlike the older Wizardry games, your characters will not lose points in their skills for not using them or continously flopping at them...something that made me determined to learn each type of character's best abilities and do my best to make them progress when I played the older games & something I felt made them more of a challenge. It is better than Bane by a long shot & beats Gold into the ground as far as adventuring goes! Now, to answer your questions... 1) I was into the game as soon as I installed it! 2) there was a point where "bugs" made me want to throw the disks out the window but as it turned out, my problem was a bad stick of memory & since I replaced that & re-installed the game I have not had ONE PROBLEM! 3)Night time is cool...more frequent encounters, maybe but the enemies who drop treasure drop better stuff than you will pick up in broad daylight. Nothing an illuminate spell will not cure as far as it being a little hard to see...there is a limit to your horizon anyway. 4) It was given to me as a gift by a friend, but yes, I would have bought it for myself! 5) Have not heard of Sea Dogs so I can't answer that one except to say you won't do bad to give W&W a try if you liked the older Wizardry games & love adventuring! 6) FUN you ask? Just read the thread "Poll: Laughing so hard you are missing the keys?" I have has more laughs & more fun since playing this game than I had all last year! |
