LOL

Someone has summoning lust I see.

Just don't forget that protection from evil spell.

Actually, I found out the hard way that if you summon either an elemental OR a demon that both your party AND any other summoned monsters that you have already summoned, ALL need to be protected by protection from evil.

Now THAT was a major fiasco ... summoned up about four salamanders and then summoned two fire elementals and then watched them all go toe-to-toe. Silly me put the protection from evil 10' radius up BEFORE summoning the salamanders. OOOPS

That's a very good point, Micah! I tend to not use a Demon for pre-battle summons. Since I can't control it, I can't order it where to go.

However, I found that a Demon is good for summoning in a battle where you have to enter a room and enter immediately into the battle. You can be fully buffed (i.e. protected from evil) beforehand. This is a good situation for an elemental or a bada$$ demon. No other friendly summons to worry about. And one nasty demon can create tons of havoc!!!

A great place for summoning a Demon is the troll room in the Ice Palace in HoF mode. Drop one demon in that room then stand back and watch it go! About the only thing you have to do is be ready to finish off the near dead trolls with some fire or acid, since the demon can't.

well you got to have one "eye of the storm" character in your party. this one has highend armor class and will work as decoy. if you dont use this tactic or your party is more like blast'n'burn, using magic all the time you wont be able to play HoF and will get serious trouble in normal mode. i suggest a deep gnome monk , to be buffed up with ac-booster spells if things are getting to hard. my deep gnome monk had ac~40-42 in the end of normal mode without spellboost and in HoF i was able to bring him to ac 80 ...

using this tactic you can fill your party up with a berserker. that would be a melee char designed just to kill but has low ac. send your monk to an enemy croud wait until they gather around him and then send your berserker in and enjoy the butchery. as your monk is deep gnome with spell resistance ... later in the game your spell based chars can bombard the monk and he wont get hurt by nearly all area effect spells ( DONT use horrid whilting here ).
