I have killed everything in the first cavern area...the lizard man king, spiders, etc....and I supposedly freed the villagers......they were all happy and everything....but when I rested, for some reason they all wound up lying dead on the cavern floor. Has this happened to anyone else? And, will it affect the storyline.....I don't know if this was supposed to happen or what, but it seems really strange. Plus, I have been having a few problems with enemies ...sometimes it will say they are "almost dead" but they will be lying on the floor like they are dead....and the red circle around them won't go away. I have the patch and everything, and the game started out fine, but it seems the further I go, the more weird little things keep cropping up....
Anyways, sorry to be so long winded. If anyone knows anything about this, please post! thanks! ..whooleeay |

I think what you're talking about is trolls. YOu "kill" them, they lie on the floor "almost deaD" but nothing happens and soon the rise again correct? you have to use fire/acid to kill those things for good(melf's acid arrow, fire potions, burning arrows).

best way to kill trolls is to use
1) if you have a weapon that does fire damage - use it. if you do not, then try to knock ou tas many trolls as spossible in a single spot and then use any area effect fire spell or flame blade (druidic) Burning hands, fireball - for mage. flamestrike - clerical(druidic?) also you can use potions you got from lizard shamans or bought in Kuldahar. Melf's acid arrow will work and so will flame arrow, but both of them can only kill 1 troll/spell, very inefficient. |

Ahh...well that explains alot about the trolls... I hadn't realized that, as this is the first time I've played this series of games..... Thanks for answering that question! (=
But as to the other question about the villagers dying.......they aren't supposed to do that, right? I dunno... just seems kinda weird.... has that happened to anyone else? thanks! Whooleeay |

I had the same problem with the villagers dying...I saved my game on level one of the Dragons Eye...in the place near the exit where villagers were kept. THe villagers were alive when I saved. THen I rested and got disturbed by way to many lizard men for my comfort so I reloaded the game I had just saved....all the villagers were now dead.
Here's another oddity...I'm a big fan of that save, rest, and then go on plan...helps revive mage and cleric spells and so forth. So I was doing this throughout the level before I came upon the door to level two. I had a map from this site in the backgroud on my PC...its labeled with notable attractions such as places where the villagers are kept. I found villagers in none of these locations except for that spot by the door....I was thinking (after reading this thread) that maybe it was because I kept resting like that. Anyone have any thoughts? If the captive villagers aren't that important I won't bother to go back and fix it (not like I can anyway with that wierd save thing). |

There is a bug the 1.6(?)patch doesn't fix. Those pesky villagers were not there the second time I played so I recieved no exp, that part of the quest was not finished. They were there the first time I playyed and I rescued them and they didnt die and I recieved exp(upon return to kuldhar). Go figure?

Lame...for a minute there I was thinking that my problem was just that I rest a LOT....just finished Dragons Eye (back in Kuldahar blowing baddies up now) and I'm on day 60 in game time. I thought maybe they had just all starved to death or something. GOtta refresh that Identify spell so I can figur eout what stuff is and use it one the spot. Now that I have my cheats working right maybe I can cut back on the time.
THe other thing I missed because of all the villagers disappearing is getting the key to the chest in the blacksmith's shop from the bratty little kid. He was there then once I saved Eugenia...he was gone. Don't know if she was still around at all....hmm. |

once your thief is high enough with pick locks you can open the chest and the blacksmith doesn't even notice. I may not have gotten exp but I did get a nice weapon.
