I finally got my second computer upNrunning...well actually it´s the Xgirlfriends comp but who´s to tell anyway...

I´m going to play BG with her, but I only have one copy of the damn game...the question goes here

Can I play BG2 if I only use the ToB disc on my comp and she uses the BG2 dics on her or do I really need to play BG1 untill I can go buy a new copy of BG2

Sincerly a brokenhearted Sparhawk

YOu both need to have the exact same version of the game, so if you have patched bg2 and she has unpatched bg2, you can't play.

Also, you both need the play disk. You will need a second copy. Altought it might be possible, if you have lots of space to spare, to copy the content of all the BGII disks to your hard drive, and try installing from there. But that's going to take around 10 gigs, with the disks plus the instalation...

For this purpose, a no-cd patch would be illegal. As would copying the ToB CD. The only legal way to do it is to buy a second copy of ToB, which usually means buying the combo pack these days.

I personaly did it with the no-cd patch though.

Well better to use a no cd patch than wasting money on a game you already got. I think No Cd patches is legal if you have bought the original game but are to lazy to put the cd into your cd rom. Theres virtual cd programs that lets you create images of your cds so instead of swapping cds all the time, you can just load up different images and thats AFAIK fully legal.

Using a No-CD patch to have more then one copy of the game running at any one time, is absolutley, without a doubt illegal. Having more then one copy of a piece of software running with only once licence is nothing more then theft.

Using a No-CD patch because you dont want to swap CD's is a gray area, the software companies would like you to think its illegal, but in practice, theres no legal basis for this that I am aware of.

Tread carefully, we do not condone talks of piracy in here. Keeping a spare copy for yourself is fine, and so is the no-CD patch, so just consider this post a reminder to everybody. I do not want to need to close this thread.
