Woman captures attacker's image on cell phone OAKLAND, Calif. – Police in Oakland, Calif., say a woman sexually assaulted by a man who broke in her home was able to use her cell phone to capture images of her assailant stealing her possessions. The Oakland Tribune says the 28-year-old North Oakland woman was raped Tuesday morning by the man, who also stole her electronics during the attack. Police say the woman used her cell phone to take video of the man hauling away her possessions. Police are now seeking the thin, bald man in a blue-and-white T-shirt shown in images taken from the video. Cops: NY teen tried to pass off home as his own SOUTH BRISTOL, N.Y. – A western New York teenager, his girlfriend and her family were just getting comfortable inside a multimillion-dollar, lakefront home when a problem arose. The owner showed up. State police say 18-year-old Todd Blauvelt (BLOW'-velt) Jr. had convinced his girlfriend and her family that he'd inherited the vacation home on Canandaigua (kan-uhn-DAY'-gwuh) Lake from his grandfather. He invited them to move in. Investigator Mark Eifert (EYE'-fert) says the group was in the home in South Bristol for about an hour last month when the homeowner found them and called police. Eifert says Blauvelt was charged this week with burglary and false written statement. Blauvelt is being held in the Ontario County Jail on $10,000 bail. A message left with his public defender Thursday wasn't immediately returned.

'Kill a camel' to cut pollution concept in Australia SYDNEY (AFP) – Australia is considering awarding carbon credits for killing feral camels as a way to tackle climate change. The suggestion is included in Canberra's "Carbon Farming Initiative", a consultation paper by the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, seen Thursday. Adelaide-based Northwest Carbon, a commercial company, proposed culling some 1.2 million wild camels that roam the Outback, the legacy of herds introduced to help early settlers in the 19th century. Considered a pest due to the damage they do to vegetation, a camel produces, on average, a methane equivalent to one tonne of carbon dioxide a year, making them collectively one of Australia's major emitters of greenhouse gases. In its plan, Northwest said it would shoot them from helicopters or muster them and send them to an abattoir for either human or pet consumption. "We're a nation of innovators and we find innovative solutions to our challenges -- this is just a classic example," Northwest Carbon managing director Tim Moore told Australian Associated Press. The idea was among those accepted for discussion by the government, which is seeking to "provide new economic opportunities for farmers, forest growers and landholders" if they come up with ways to cut emissions, according to the document. Heavily reliant on coal-fired power and mining exports, Australia is one of the world's worst per capita polluters and the government is looking at ways to clean up its act. Legislation for the "Carbon Farming Initiative" is set to go before parliament next week.

Flying bear kills two Canadians in freak accident OTTAWA (Reuters) – Two Canadians died instantly in a freak accident when a car hit a 440-pound (200-kg) black bear and sent the animal flying straight through the windshield of an oncoming vehicle, local media said Wednesday. The bear's body hit the 25-year-old driver and a 40-year-old man sitting behind her and then shot out of the back window. The bear also died. The accident happened Monday night in a rural area about 25 miles north of the federal capital Ottawa. "We don't see (this) often, even if we live in the country. Lots of deer, but collisions with a bear and two people died? That's really rare," local police spokesman Martin Fournel told the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. Collisions between vehicles and animals are common in Canada, which has a healthy population of large wild animals such as moose and deer. (Reporting by David Ljunggren; editing by Peter Galloway)

Texas man dies while raping elderly woman CHICAGO (AFP) – A Texas man died while raping a 77-year-old woman, local media reported. Isabel Chavelo Gutierrez, 53, broke into the woman's rural home armed with a knife and attacked her. But in the midst of the rape he complained he wasn't feeling well and "stopped having sex with her so he could rest," the Corpus Christi Caller reported citing the local sheriff's office. The registered sex offender continued to fondle her, however, then rolled over and died. The woman initially thought he had passed out drunk because she smelled alcohol on his breath. She fled her home in her car and called her daughter for help. Investigators believe Gutierrez died of a heart attack after riding his bicycle two miles to the woman's home on a hot summer day but are awaiting the results of an autopsy. He was on parole for sex crimes including indecency with a child in 1986 and had been released from prison in 2008. The Refugio County Sheriff's Office was not immediately available for comment.

OKAYAMA, Japan -- Just in time for summer grilling: Japanese scientists say they have created synthetic meat derived from human excrement. The news that Mitsuyuki Ikeda, of Okayama Laboratory, perfected the meat streaked across the Internet. Whether or not the whole breakthrough is a crafty online hoax remains to be seen. But if it's true, the finding -- albeit disgusting -- could have some big implications on food of the future. A now-viral video examining the purported breakthrough -- dubbed "poop burger" -- said the synthetic meat could be an answer to the high cost and environmental damage of industrial meat production. Ikeda and fellow researchers claim to have extracted protein from raw sewage to create the meat and added food coloring to make it appear red. Early taste tests say the meat tastes like beef.

This would be the ultimate diet food, cause most people would fast instead. I do see a market in the practical joke area...

Intimate piercing earns Melbourne player red card MELBOURNE (Reuters) - An amateur soccer player fell foul of the referee, and could incur the wrath of his mother, after failing to prove he had removed a piece of jewelry from an intimate body piercing during a match in Melbourne. Aaron Eccleston, who turned out for Old Hill Wanderers against Swinburne University reserves, was handed a second yellow card for the offence in the first half of last Sunday's match. "During the first half, our player was struck in the groin by the ball, and left the field to receive attention," said a statement on the club website (www.oldhillwanderers.com). "At this point the referee became aware that he had a body piercing. "He subsequently received two yellow cards, firstly for re-entering the field of play without the referee's permission, and secondly for privacy reasons being unable to prove that he had removed the piercing." The latter end of the incident was captured on amateur video and posted on the Internet. Eccleston, who describes himself on his Twitter page as a "disillusioned Mansfield Town fan, down under," was shocked at how quickly the story had spread. "I don't think my mum's going to be particularly happy!" he tweeted. The club accepted the yellow cards had been issued "in accordance with the laws of football" and apologized to the referee for the "negative attention that may have been generated by this unfortunate event." Ohio Deputies: Woman Sprayed Us With Breast Milk DELAWARE, Ohio — A central Ohio woman accused of spraying sheriff's deputies with breast milk is facing charges including disorderly conduct. The Delaware County sheriff's office says deputies responded to a call about a domestic dispute early Saturday, and a man told them his wife was drinking at a wedding and hit him before locking herself in a car. The sheriff says deputies found the woman in a car and tried to talk with her, but she didn't cooperate. He says when deputies tried to remove her, she said she was a breast-feeding mother, then exposed part of her chest and sprayed them with breast milk. Authorities say 30-year-old Stephanie Robinette of Westerville faces charges including domestic violence, assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Jail officials didn't know whether she has an attorney.
