Hi,
Does any of you use a wireless mouse for gaming. Can you recommend anything? I've tried a few 2 years ago, and every single one of them had a lag. Some barely noticeable but it was still there. So I gave up and been using a Logitech G5 since. It's excellent; I really love it, but the cable is getting more of a pain after I got a new desk, and I'm thinking again of getting a wireless one. I cam across this one Logitech G7. It is basically almost same as the one I'm using now, but wireless. I've read some reviews; mostly positive. And from what I've read there is no lag. So I'm thinking of buying it. My questions: Did anyone use this particular one in gaming. What are your opinions? Any place I can buy this one in Ireland (or online if they ship here)? Any other good wireless gaming mouses you can recommend? The main and most important things I'm looking for is: no lag, no lag, no lag. Thanks...

I've had the Logitech MX3200 keyboard and mouse combo for.. a year now, maybe 2? I'm having no trouble with the mouse at all, however my games are a little older, I don't know if that makes any difference.

If lag is critical in your on-line gaming,,then most certainly stay on the wire. Staying on the wire eliminates a troubleshooting step, i.e. 'is the lag because of the mouse, or because of the server/network?'.

I was given a MS wireless keyboard and mouse combo more than 5 years ago. The keyboard, though quite nice and comfy, didn't seem to be compatible with new systems and setups, but i'm still using the mouse and have no intention of changing any time soon. Despite years worth of gunk, it has never had a fault and i've never taken it apart or had to clean it (and don't i get strange looks from visitors because of it

I don't like cordless mouse for gaming. Nothing worse than having your mouse start running our of juice in the middle of a raid.

As many others have said, they just tend to not work as well as ones with cord..I don't know, maybe it's just the mind playing tricks on me, but somehow they just have a different feel to it. And not in a good way. I'm all for wireless technology elsewhere, but not the mouse..

Lag! It's all about the lag.
If I may, let's break it down. Hard wire mouse. Think current, positive (X-axis) and negative (Y-axis) flowing at the same time, at the same rate, and always on. Just a slight twitch of a finger can cause the on screen cursor to move. But what did it take for that cursor to move? Signal from last position is always active, and a transfer rate of about 1000 reads a second to record movement. Wireless mouse. Think switchable current (light switch). Not always on, must receive user input prior to current flow (always -standby (battery life)). As well, most high-end wireless mice only achieve a paltry 500 reads a second (through design this is only half the rate of transfer as it's wired sibling). In addition, they must have an internal power supply to send signal. All of this equals = lag to the user. In a work environment or low frame rate gaming session, it is negligible. However, placing a great demand on the mouse in a fast frame rate game will result in a plethora of bad things, not limited to, said mouse being thrown across the room! There is yet hope thou. However, I do not champion the company for anything, credit is due. I recall reading a recent article about that company from Redmond, introducing a superior quality mouse for the gaming community. IIRC, it was an X8 sidewinder, or something similar. It might be worth looking into.

Basically, Felix said it all. I recall posting here one time complaning about the inescapable lag one experiences when using wireless mouse devices, and people swore it wasn't true. But when you're doing things like PvP gaming online, you'll notice the difference. When a precise, swift reaction time is needed, and ultimately slower, you can't really deny the lag.
I find a wired but optical mouse helps, otherwise you just need to find a very precise wireless one, that almost compensates for the integers. I tried the wireless black and silver microsoft mouse that you see in most walmart stores (around $50) and liked it alot, but after around a year both of them messed up so I went back to wired optical for now. Comfort and design may tempt people, but it is all about reaction time when it comes down to it.
