Any recommendations for a good and reliable freeware out there that will stop pop-up ads? Thanks.

That depends on the cause of the pop-ups. Do you have adware problems or is it just pop-ups on ad supported sites?

Why don't you try Google Toolbar? It has a built-in pop-up blocker (requires IE 5.5 or later).

I use Pop-up Stopper, think I got it from Download.com
I'm using it to block pop-ups from websites (sites with lyrics often have idiotic amounts of pop-ups!) and what's so useful about it, is that you can turn it off and on with a doubleclick in your taskbar, so that when you do want the screen to pop up (for example the Ironworks Preview Post window) it easily lets you do that. Freesurfer Mk II works like a charm for me. It's a nice little program that's free.
However I'd also recommend Opera; dang that's a fast browser!

I haven't tried anything else, but I'm not planning to either.
I really like the one-clicky-thing to put it on and off. |
