I happened to be battling some Sola mod random encounter party in the middle of the docks and fired off a few lightning bolts. Probably a mistake because everyone knows how those things ricochet.
Wouldn't it be nice if after doing something like that you could approach Rylock and Jaheira and initiate a dialogue saying "oops, I'm sorry for raining down thunderous bolts of lighting damage to you and everyone else in the area. Won't you forgive me." But no! they take it personal and put on their little red circles and come after me. I never thought Harpers to be making rash decisions like that.

Some people just have no sense of humor. Itch powder, exploding cigar, lighting bolt... You should be able to say oops I missed. They let you get away with it in golf.

Ewwww, you said golf! As a wise man once said, "golf is a nice walk spoiled by a little white ball." Seriously, i hate golf... its sooo boring!

Back on topic now How would you feel if someone fire-bombed your house, then just shrugged their shoulders and said, "sorry, I was aiming at the postman out the front." The damage is still done, sure you intended to kill the posty (no offence to any postal workers out there) but you missed, you killed the house instead. That post-man is still out there though, time for another fire-bomb

You know, whenever I am soloing a mage, sorcerer, or avenger and I am in the area picking off ruffians with reflected lightning, it seems to hit that harper somewhat frequently. I think there must be somthing about the arrangement of the boxes that does this, but I haven't been able to find a connection. Maybe I just have unlucky aim.

One thing that I find lame is that you people will turn hostile if you fail a steal attempt against them.

It would be cooler if they summoned some guards and gave you a choice between paying a fine or facing the consequences. Your reputation should still go down one spot if caught stealing.

It doesn't make sense that being caught stealing should always end up in bloodshed.

I will add on to Indemaijinj's post... ...

Derrick, a Nobleman, was minding his own business in the marketplace when he suddenly felt a tugging on his money purse. With lightning-quick reflexes, he clamped his right hand on his money purse and spun around to face six heavily equipped people.

Indignant, Derrick said harshly to the nearest one of them, "How dare you try to steal from me!"

The front guy of the offending party turned around to face the rest of his party members and shrugged his shoulders. Turning back to face the Nobleman, he replied with a voice heavy with meaning, "Whatcha gonna do about it... punk?"

That said, swords were drawn, spells were charged up and metallic gauntlets were smashed together for a delibrate and ominous clanking noise.

"I demand an apology!" Derrick shouted, as he walked up right in front of the nearest guy and slapped him on the cheek with a silky satin glove, blissfully ignorant of the dangers he was getting in.

Alas... his lifespan was reduced considerably after that... ...

There should be an option where you can demand money from the person.

That was a good way to put it Dundee, I can just visualize Derrick getting that satin glove rammed up his @ss. You should have a spot over in the role-playing forum as a DM, if you don't already.

And Wilbur, I think you're right, there is something funny going on in the docks because I don't believe I was anywhere close enough to the Harper hold to hit them. I just went down there way after the fact and they bumrushed me.
