Default Vista and XP

No excuses.

My PC is running on Vista.

I would like to go back to XP.

I can divide the hard drive to work with both systems but that slows things down.

Can I run XP from an external hard drive? Might it work better?

I'm not 100% certain but I think microsoft left an option to roll back to XP. I could be mistaken.

Thank you guys.

And thanks to ElfBane for that link.

The problem now is to convince family that I really need to spend yet more money on this computer.

Vista sucks isn't convincing enough?

I personally use it myself, but that's because have no money to change anything at the moment. I could go a darker route, that's not my style.

Still curious if this new OS from Microsoft will be an improvement over Vista, or more of the same. And when can we expect to see it?

I personally prefer Vista over XP. I think its a good improvement from XP.

That being said, Windows 7 isn't expected at least until 2010, maybe later. Although I still think its a bit early to speculate (and is already a great deal of hype for Windows 7), I think the new OS will try to avoid all the perceived problems with Vista, whether they be accurate or not.

A couple of friends of mine bought a Dell that came with Vista a awhile ago. One hasn't been able to get it to work because of constant 'viruses' and the other got ticked and tried to put XP on it.

He had to buy another computer.
