I have a problem that I figure might have something to do with the router we have, the problem being me not being able to play a NWN2 Persistent World. The system they use is have the player create a new character with their character creation module in single player mode, then email the .bic file of the character to the head DM, who will then put the character into the server vault, which should make it ready for playing.
Anyhow, all should be done and the game ready for playing, but I can't find the character when I connect to their server and try to select the character. I read that theres been similar problems in the past, but I don't think they figured out what was the problem. They speculated some, but nothing concrete. My thoughts on the matter are that if my router blocks the ports that the game is supposed to be using, then perhaps that would have the effect? And if that's the case, then perhaps forwarding those ports would be the answer? At this point you may be wondering why I just don't try it out for myself, and the answer to that is I can't get on the router configuration page for some reason...to my knowledge, all it's supposed to take is typing your static IP address into the browser of IE or such, and then it should pop up. No such luck for me, which is odd, because I definately remember getting to the panel before. Hopefully I didn't make it self-destruct last time ![]() Anyhow, thoughts and help on the matter would be greatly appreciated! Yours, Raistlin. PS. Nice to see Ironworks is still up and running! It's been a while since I've last been around ![]()

Did you type in the IP address of your computer, or the address of your router? On a command prompt do an IPCONFIG and look for your default gateway. That's your router's address.

Your ISP can tell you the config page if you've forgotten it. I imagine it is indeed a port issue.

Hey Hark, nice to see ya
![]() @Vulcan, yeah I tried that, but for some reason I get no response what-so-ever..probably screwed something up big time a few years ago when I was messing around trying to get something to work ![]() @Spirit~: Yeah, I guess I'll have to contact them, or alternatively wait a few months until I move to a place of my own, hehe. I remember always having had trouble with online games since we got the damn box, and I don't recall ever managing to do anything about it, despite reading hours upon hours of junk on port forwarding and such. 'Tis cursed, I say! ![]()

What's your router brand? Typically what you have to do to get to the router admin page is connect to it via HTTP. Usually it's 192.168.0.0 or 192.168.1.0... unless someone's changed it (as I have). If that's the case, you can usually figure out the router address from your own IP (assuming DHCP).
Failing that, you can always reset the router to the default settings... ![]()

It's certainly been a while since I've had a chance to do anything with a computer, but just to let all of you know, I have triumphed over the wicked, black box! Resetting the router(thanks for that Bungleau!) and downloading the firmware(with predefined settings to disable the router firewall and alter NAT configurations) for the router seemed to do the trick just fine.
Haven't tried the persistent world yet(had a busted computer for a few months...damn thunderstorms ;P), but might give it another go at some point, since things seem to be working just dandy now, hehe. Again, thanks to all, and I hope you're all enjoying the summer holidays(which are over soon..yay ![]() Kind Regards, Raistlin Majere.

Glad to hear everything's worked out, Raistlin! Now, back to the games!

Indeed! Ran through Bioshock in 2 days, har har. Need to try the persistant world, if for nothing else, than to see if it works, hehe.
