Default Art for next release - Items

It's time to start getting ready for the next DC release.

I'm looking for small pictures of regular, non-unique weapons, armor and other items that adventurers would use.
I would prefer that the pictures be sized for the 1024x768 resolution, which is 352x422, so that we can use them for both resolutions. However, if you find that this is too large for you, I will gladly accept small pictures for the 640x480 resolution, these pictures being 176x211 in size.
Please all graphics in this thread.

Thanks in advance. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with.

I dunno if you've messed with this much, but in my trying out the different wall size; the backdrops stretch to fit. Just curious, do the small pics fit from one resolution to the next?

PS, I'm not much on art. Sorry

Nope. The only thing that stretches (and shrinks) to fit is the backdrop.

I have already drawn a lot of weapons and items, however, they certainly look like the rest of my design (black outlines, smoothed etc. – just like my walls). If this is no problem, I can post it or send it to you via e-mail. Perhaps I should post some examples tomorrow... Although most of them are 176*211, I quess I kept the originals on some CD and could change them to 352*422.
What about "unspecific" buildings and cities? I have some small pics with towers and small cities etc.

I personally do not like mixing of art styles (except for some special cases - we have already discussed that a little ), but on the other hand, style mixing is certainly better than no picture at all.

Post away! Please post the pictures of building and cities as well.

As for mixing styles- I think you, Uatu and myself are on the same page on this topic. With that being said, we are all capable of creating our own graphics if we want/need to. For the rest of the community, it may or may not be as big of a deal, but by having a couple of different styles represented, they then have a choice. The way that I am thinking is that maybe only one long sword, for example, will be included in the default download, but other long swords will be made available in official/SourceForge hosted add-ons.

I can't wait to see more of your work.

You guys draw pictures of just single items as small pictures? ??? Never even thought about that...

I did draw some weapons (in a similar MS Paint style) that you can see here, though:

The scale is all wrong for DC, of course, and so on... You may also notice that this was another one of my various strange projects that I never finished

As for mixing styles... Yeah, manikus said it, but I also have to add that doing all this work is tiring! We CAN make our own stuff, but it does take time... That said, I think you two (Dinonykos and manikus) have probably made some of the most stuff out there already... Geez

I keep doing work, in hope that one day I'll do something decent.

This is just the type of thing. Those are some nice pictures and good explanations, too.

Yup! Again I am impressed with what you do with MS Paint, Uatu!

I personally would not draw/paint EVERY item present in the game, but since the weapons and other equipment are not represented by small icons or something like that in the character screen, the small pics are the only opportunity, right? I can imagine what a rusty sword looks like without any image, but when I find an armor with let's say 5 AC bonus, I want to see a picture of it.

That's a good reason. I also thought that people could use these pictures in shops, with treasure events, etc.

Later, I will want to do some special (unique or artifact) items that can be released as an add-on.
