Hi all! I am playing another group through, and after finally managing to subdue Kangax, and the shadow and red dragons, I'm a bit bored. I do still need to do the 'sphere' quest, but I'm a bit bored and wondering how to bring some excitement back into BGII. I'm still in chapter 2 on this one, so I realize there is quite a bit more play left in this game, but....
Any suggestions? Maybe another solo tour or small party tour? Last edited by gaijinalways; 02-22-2008 at 06:20 AM. |

Well... mods? There are lots of them, just check the modlist.
If you want a new exciting adventure with new areas, try Dungeon Crawl. If you'd like to try new NPCs with banter(and new quests), try Angelo, Xan, Keto, Kivan. If you want new romances, half of these NPCs are romanceable, and there're new romances for Bioware NPCs, too, like Nalia de'Arnise romance. The writing is indistinguishable from the original game. And if you'd like new fun cool interludes and adventures for any PC, try Romantic Encounters. You won't be disappointed. Or play EasyTutu with BG1 NPC - an entirely new cool game. |

Play a class you haven't done yet, or if you've tasted all the classes, try variations on the kits. I tend toward the Paladin classes. But I'm experimenting with some others, like sorc., monk. (which stronghold do they get anyway?), I was going to try an solo an either an assassin or a bounty hunter, still undecided.
Also if you tend towards a certain alignment see what it's like to play the other side. I recall an old BG1 thread where someone tried to be about as evil as possible, charmed all the townspeople and made them fight each other. Might be interesting to turn loose a demon in the the middle of waukeen's promenade.

nice links to some mods there kulyok. Seems like the modding community has been busy since I last played the game.

Unsure if you're asking the question, or hinting for Kulyok to find out, but monks get the fighter stronghold if I remember correctly.
Also soloing a assassin is great fun!

I'm playing as a monk now, and unfortunately, you get squat for strongholds.
Thanx guys, trying a mod next would probably be good. I haven't played all of the characters, but I also tend to play BGII intermixed with other games and depending on my free time. Who knows, I might even pick up the latest NW if my graphics card permits it. |

Hmm.. I'm inclined to think Ivellis is correct. But even if he isn't, every class/kit, has access to at least one stronghold. I think duel and multi's can have any one stronghold involved in their combo, unless you install a mod or something.

Monks do get the fighter stronghold- I've been there, and done it myself.

I have the balderdash patches only (exp cap, etc), but I wasn't allowed the fighter stronghold. Nalia said something about me not being right or something. Then I kicked her out of my group, sour grapes perhaps?Maybe a bug?

Most likely a bug. Or you did something that made her mad and jeapordised your position? Couldn't say.
But, Vanilla BG II, Monks get the Fighter Stronghold. |
