Default Starting (something)

Anyone know where a decent place to post images would be? I mean Both Uatu and Manikus have pages to see thier art and I'm finally doing something (yay!!! ). I cannot put any money into it (and might be hard pressed to put much time into it, as well), and I figure that while I might not be able to produce any really good artwork; perhaps my ideas for stuff might at least have a positive effect on DC. After all, I usually can figure out some neat things DC can do; and it would help to have a mod (or even a demo) to point to with The designers guide.

There are lots of options. Both of our (Uatu's and mine) sites are free sites. There are also services like ImageShack or Flickr. You could even start your own Yahoo group. You could post in forums- here is the only place I know of to see Dinonykos' work, and Uatu started posting here before he got his web page up.

Yeah, I did figure I'd prolly show the stuff I do here first .

I have another question for you. When the game launcher starts, it opens the config text file in the same folder? Not the root (Dungeoncraft) folder?

I believe that the editor looks to the DC base folder first, but the engine looks to the design folder. This means that when testing from current position it picks the one in the DC folder, and I'm not sure about when testing from start position...

only reason I'm asking is for changing the config file. IIRC, its the one in the design folder I want to change if I want to change something on how the output screen looks (I'm just trying to change the size of the frame you see things in, not even the size of the viewing window; just the border around it.)
Although, I suppose I could just have a background picture that has the "frame" in it... (global settings, "screen background)

You'll have to check out what exactly the screen background does, as I recall there are "blacked-out" areas where they don't show up. You'll have to do some expirementing.

My provider is quite nice - they give 30 MB of space for free (no need to even give them an e-mail address, you just sign up and voila! You have space) and they don't have much restrictions on what you can put up (i.e. you could put up a zipped game file as long as it is within your allotted space). There are also no ads and no bandwidth restrictions.

The only bad thing is that if noone accesses your site for more than a week, they say your site will be deleted! Ack!

yeah, and I remember you said something about being gone for a week, so I made sure to check out your page (like I'd need convincing, your artwork is amazing )

Uatu's right about the great deal. I use xthost.info for a non-DC related page that I need to have up for a while. I just check it every day when I get online, and that way I don't have to worry. It took about 3 minutes from the time I decided to use xthost, until I had my page up and running. (Of course, I'd already made the page.)

Well, even not considering whether the artwork is good or not... If I don't update the page for a while, who is going to visit?

But yeah, xthost.info is a quick-and-easy way to get a web page!
