Hmm... I thought with all the time that has gone by, BG2 would have lost its appeal. Apparently I was wrong.. Maybe it's just because I played through it like 30 times, or maybe it was all those countless hours of puring over code trying to write my Summon Thief spell, but I just can't pick this game up again.
Certainly, it was arguably the best RPG I have ever played in my life and most certainly it is worth playing if you haven't, I just thought that after all these years, people would either be done with it, or just not have heard of it. How many people out there play this game still today that also played it way back in like 2000 or 2001 whenever it was that this came out? I guess I got burned out on it. (I still have most of the cutscenes and definitely the entire opening scene all memorized.) "Ah.. the Child of Bhaal has awoken. It is time for more... experiments." - John Irenicus

The true classics never die.
Actually just about anything on PC with Interplay or Black Isle involved is good for the next century or so. Fallout, BG 1&2, Planescape:Torment, etc. Least that's my opinion.

I still play on occasion, never get too far though, usually just try out different class combinations/mods/don't do things my usual way (ie. play with someone like Mazzy, or Valygar, or Cernd, who I never play with)

I bought it when it first came out and still play it(not regularly),but if I see a new mod or hear of new ideas(usually from this site), the i may pick the old girl up again and give it another run through, I get quite attached to my character, yeah, sad I know.

Generally, if I see something that I instantly fall in love with, I'll head to the computer, and try to reinact it, that is, the class, via BG II.

I discovered the game a couple of years ago, and I still play. Actually, I've probably played through the first game more often, as I prefer to take the same character through the entire series. I usually get mid to late Shadows of Amn before I get bored, or fed up with my party choices, or despairing of my chosen NPC mods not having ToB content thus losing intrest in my party's story, etc.
The new mod content that still is coming out helps a lot. And there are so many ways to face the game's challanges, that I haven't gotten bored yet. I hope that by the time I do get bored, that someone starts making games like this again. |

I play BG II off and on (depends on the other games I'm playing and when I finish, Thief II, Railroad Tycoon II, MTW), but I still enjoy it. I have played through twice only, as a party and a solo character (2 or 3 other starts that I abandoned due to loss of interest and a busier life).

BG2 is by far my favorite game ever.
I've played through it about 6 times and it never gets old. I wish that some new company would release a similar game, some other game loosely based on Forgotten Realms books. (Not BG3 because BG2 was the perfect game and doesn't need to be added on to, plus it wouldnt happen because of all the problems with securing the rights to the Baldurs Gate name) Maybe The Dark Elf Trilogy that loosely follows the story of the legendary Drizzt... I know the fan base for this type of game is still enormous and despite the advances in graphics, if it has a really well developed story line that pulls us into a game. It wouldnt have to be in the infinity engine, maybe something close to NWN2 but with a better camera. I know im dreaming here, but wouldnt it be nice. Last edited by carv3r; 12-12-2007 at 02:15 AM. I've been playing the BG games off and on since their release. I'm not an avid "gamer" so rushing out to play the latest and greatest is never high on my priorities. But after a long day at work and the kids are in bed, then I'll play BG for an hour or so. I can't say how many times I've finished it. Maybe 15.
