Default Marek & Lothander encounter

first, YES, I did look into the archives on this, but I didn't find what I was looking for.

This is the first encounter where they tell me and my party to back off.

Does the poison timer kick in right then? or does it wait til I encounter Lothander and he directs me to Marek? that part confuses me a little, I'm in the process of getting the sea charts for the werewolf isle quest, but I wanna get the poison taken care of first if that's gonna be an issue.

It only kicks in once Lothander directs you to Marek.

But if you want to be 1000% sure just go to an inn and rest for 15 days...

alternately I could just follow through with the encounters untill I get it out of the way for certain, I suppose.

All the same, thanks.

I can second that. In my earlier playthroughs, I always died after beign told I was poisoned... so I resorted to killing Lothander before he initiated contact.

No poison for me. Now I know how to finish it up... but still. Good times.

Sheesh, I forgot what kind of a scavenger hunt Baldur's Gate (city) can be. everyone tells you where you need to be but not "where" you need to be. So now I've got to track down the temple to tymora (which I think was on the other side of the middle wall, but it's been forever) and the Blade and Star Tavern which is I have no idea where. Then later I've got to locate the Blushing mermaid, which I at least have some clue as to where it is.

I'm not asking for directions so much as complaining.

Additional: Well I found everything, most of it was where I thought it was. And theoretically I'm no longer poisoned. Also wolfwere's are much tougher than I remember them being. The only way WW island was doable was with haste spells and bless/defensive harmony combos. I'm not much of a potions person, which tends to complicate things. Anywho, off to Durlag's Tower, fun stuff ahead.

I think Wolfweres are changed if you use TUTU. They suprised me as well, and the boss fight was brutal, mainly due to all my melee fighters being unable to hit the boss.

Well what really ticked me off was that the werewolves were almost as tough and you got like 1/3 the exp for them. Though that seemed to have been fixed in BG2. One of these days I'm gonna have to get my hands on Throne of Bhaal, preferably before it goes from the $10 its at now to like $50 because it's hard to find.

So ... Just hijacking this, what if Lothander isn't at the damn inn? Not to be found anywhere in BG after doing his fancy scavenger hunt to remove his geas and get his half of the antidote. What am I to do then?
Just rush through and try to finish the game in the 7-8 days I have left before I die?

Then you have a bug. Has this happened to you? Or are you just thinking up hypothetical bugs so you can complain if they MIGHT occur?
Go here...http://www.geocities.com/sixospades/bg/bgguide.htm

This site is a spoiler free guide to BG. It especially has good advice on what to do in BG city and how to handle the poisoning of the party.
