Only use is to sell it for 1 gp. Only thing is you can only sell one of them. I believe it is part I. Part II can not be sooled and has no use neither.

i have never heard of the books increasing your Lore...though considering how many of them you find throughout BG I & II, it would have been cool to incorporate a benefit like that. makes sense, too...

I think I have read all the books in BG1... I had collected all of them, had to sacrife many scrolls and gems to have rooms for my books... then I imported to BG2, noticed that you lost all your items from the previous game... I got so disappointed I never read a book again
