Google turned up a lot of sites with programs telling you how to do it, when searching for "how to convert pdf file to rtf".

Of course, if the pdf is a scanned in image, it won't work.

You can't just copy/paste the text into wordpad?

Have you tried to use something like Word to do that? I'm not sure if Word will convert them, but it might.

Word won't do it.

If the programs don't work, it could well be that you won't be ABLE to convert it. I'm no expert on PDFs, but some seem to be converted from word documents, whereas some seem to be a compilation of scanned images (each apge of a book, for example).

If they were scanned images originally, you'll never be able to convert it.

Not necessarily, you could try OCRing it.
