Seems very likely that Bush will have his War. I wonder what will happen during and because of it. I wish I could see the future, but then again, I'm not so sure I'd like what I see.

I sincerely hope that Bush and his group know what they are doing, because this pebble in the puddle will cause ripples that will be felt throughout the World and for the foreseeable future.

Never has the rest of the World been so helpless in a conflict as they may be now.

We shall see and we shall live through whatever this War brings us.

Peace on earth, good will toward all.

Mark

The only thing that will change is the world will count one less dictator. That's all. The world wasn't on fire the last time there was a war in Iraq, was it ?

Plus at least two countries that crap all over the international rules just because they have an issue with another country. Something i saw in another thread said it best. What if, after this North Korea thinks they feel Japan is a threat to them or Pakistan and India ? Who will keep these out of each others hairs if the US and the UK now start a war with Iraq ?

And the last time there was a war in Iraq, we could see a clear aggressor. Iraq did invade Kuwait. If now the US and the UK 'invade' Iraq, without a UN mandate, they are the aggressors.

Maybe so, but it's in the best interrest of mankind. I would hate to think what would happen if Saddam actually got his hands on nucleair weapons. I'm glad there are at least a few governments on this planet that are not going to sit and see what happens. The last time everyone pretended there was nothing wrong, we ended up having a worldwar.

Maybe so, but on the other hand why not North korea or Cuba or any other dictator ? And this could very well end up in a world war aswell. Well, maybe i'm just a pessimist but it seems to me that both parties, and i mean the 'invaders' and 'defenders', are so stubborn that, no matter what, we'll end up with war.

I'm convinced Korea's turn will come too, they're simply asking for it. They're just making a lot of noise now, because the world is focussing on Iraq. Just wait and see.

It's true. We did.

One nation invaded Czechoslovakia and then Poland without just cause and then the allies reacted resulting in that world war.

Actually, in the case of North Korea, i do hope their turn will come. The only thing that i'm questioning in that regard is 'How much more CAN the US do'. Granted they have the largest army in the world for any one country but how many wars can they fight before morale kicks in ? Or before they have spread their troups to thin ? I mean, if the US goes in alone and they clean up the place and install a new gouvernment and such, it will also take up resources, military resources, to keep the peace. At least in the first few months, maybe years. It would be an illusion to say that once the US wins this war, all the problems and fighting in that country will be over. And the same goes for every other country that comes after Iraq. Now, if they have a mandate from the UN, they could leave this over to other countries and do something different, go after someone else, but if they haven't, i say, let them deal with the situation and then the US may, i stress may, make the mistake of leaving too soon.

With regards to N.K. the US should not really have to do a thing but apply some diplomatic and economic pressure on China. The North Koreans are acting like buffoons and i am sure that the Chinese would not want to see large scale war on their border involving the United States. Step up China!
