Isn't it kind of obvious??? BG2 rocks!!! I played BG1 after Bg2 though and thought it was pretty lame. TOB is so awesome though.

BG1 all the way. I played it first, and it rocked! It was my first RPG, and I thought it was the greatest game ever. When I found out that I was a (spoiler if you have not finished the game!!! )

Child of Bhaal, I was so surprised! No wonder they had those chanters right next to the Candlekeep Library! In BG1, you felt proud killing a gibberling. Felling an ogre was a good day's work, and those ankhegs were some of the most challenging battles! In BG2 and ToB, you get up to level 40. You get so enormously powerful that fightning isn't really fun anymore. One hit with Carsomyr and that Ankheg goes flying. Now where is the fun in that? BG1 was definitely better, but if you played BG2 and ToB first, and then play BG1, it seems boring because you switch from battling gigantic Dragons to slaying kobolds.

I disagree here. BG2! BG2! BG2! Come on Irenicus was so cool! More spells to play with, cooler weapons, cooler quests, what's not to like? I admit in TOB you did get *too* powerful but that's why they had stronger enemies than your ankhegs. (Greater basilisks were more annoying and rewarding anyway.) Besides it's not like you didn't have to work to get there. Liche's, high level mages, dragons, and the evil one himself all lay in your way.

For most games or movies, the first installment is usually the better. But BG2 is the opposite as I find the game much more fun than the first one (BG1). AT least Black Isle is learning from the experience...

BG2, because there are no Sorcerers in BG1.
