So I was browsing through my favorites, to see what sites I used to visit when I actually used the favorites thing that internet explorer comes with. And lo and behold, I rediscovered www.hotmail.com

I totally remember now that I had a hotmail account. However when I logged into my old account, all I got was:

Quote:
We temporarily deactivated your account; all account content such as messages have been cleared.
Your account was temporarily deactivated because you have either:

Not signed in for at least 30 days.
Not signed within 10 days of registration or activation.
Chose to close your account in the last 30 days.
Click Activate My Account in order to continue using your account.
Bastards! I used them for nearly 4 years of my life and they got all cry-baby and immature when I disappeared from them for over 2 years??? I came back... eventually. I had all my old emails from my early IW days (when I was scared of PM's, but not emails oddly enough) stored on that email account.

Bah gmail is better anyways. I have like 500000gigs of free space to roll around in like Bill Gates does with money. But I'm thinking of writing an angry letter to Hotmail anyway. I was never notified waaaaaay back of any required usage to keep my hotmail account going. It'd be much more sensible that you have X amount of days before your account gets deactivated where X equals the number of days that you actually used their email service.

Ingrates.....

They have had that system in place since its creation, and all users have always been notified of this fact

Yep, they've have had it since the beginning, probably to clear out "inactive" accounts. I believe it's described when you create your account.

I'm actually quite happy with my Hotmail now. They upped my storage space to 250MB. This might seem little, compared to my GMail, but I am not a clutter-hoarder when it comes to EMail. I only use about 2% of my Hotmail space.

Hotmail has gotten a whole lot better too, when it comes to spam filtering. The most common spam mail I get is a "Paypal Phisher", which only comes about once a month.

Phishers are scam emails that imitate legal businesses in an attempt to trick you into divulging your bank accounts and other confidential information.

I use my hotmail account as my spambait account. And yes, they require you to log in once a month to keep it active.

They're not religious about the month thing, but if you wait too long, they will deactivate you. I've had to recreate mine about 4-5 times...

Yup, they do deacitvate regularly if you don't log in! A friend of mine keeps forgetting that and email to her just bounces from time to time.

Yeah, like a bad check. I use mine for both spam bait, and contact with my sis, which comes out to the same thing...All those jokes I post, now you know where they come from.

They do notify you from the very beginning. What I don't like is the time allotted. To... short. It is like they are "suggesting" that you be obsessed and log on every few minutes.

Now I preserve a hotmail account via MSN Messenger, but all of my used to be IW contacts are now gone or whatnot. I only maintain MSN for my foreign contacts. And these people never upgraded my account. It is still at a measly 2MB. What is up with that??
