In news around here, a judge authorized a local man to start removing property from AAA Michigan, one of the largest insurance companies in the state, after they failed to pay a settlement amount. The man was paralyzed in a drunk driving accident (he was the drunk and the driver), and he claims that AAA was dragging its feet in paying him in hopes that he would die first. Whether that's true or not remains to be seen... but shortly after police started removing things from AAA's offices Tuesday, a check was cut.

Full story here.

You will need to provide a postal code and minimal info to read it, but nothing major. And nothing really personal.

Sometimes, the little guy wins.... in spite of his own personal history.

From HowStuffWorks.com:
No-Fault Insurance - Many states have enacted auto accident laws permitting auto accident victims to collect directly from their own insurance companies for medical and hospital expenses regardless of who was at fault in the accident. Although there are many legal variations of no-fault insurance, most states still allow people to sue the party at fault if the amount of damages is above a certain state-determined amount.

Sounds like the idea is if somebody hits you, your insurance steps up and pays your medical bills rather than you having to go after their insurance company or suing them personally. Anybody here ever have actual experience using no-fault? Is it better/worse?
