LARGO, Florida (AP) -- An autopsy on Terri Schiavo backed her husband's contention that she was in a persistent vegetative state, finding that she had massive and irreversible brain damage and was blind, the medical examiner's office said Wednesday. It also found no evidence that she was strangled or otherwise abused....

..."The brain weighed 615 grams, roughly half of the expected weight of a human brain," [the medical examiner] said. "This damage was irreversible, and no amount of therapy or treatment would have regenerated the massive loss of neurons."

I'd like to see Michael file a lawsuit or 2 for defamation of character, but I doubt he'll do it.

No surprises there then, but it's nice to have concrete evidence. Also interesting that she would have died even if fed by mouth as requested by her parents.

Not that the pro-life/conservative lobby involved in this ever gave a rats arse about the science of course...

For once in my life, I'll also say 'bring on the lawsuits'!

I'd reiterate the lawsuit comment - the poor man was struggling with his own devils, it was said he had promised Terri he wouldn't prolong things if it got that far. I was so embarassed to be an American once all the governmental YAHOOS jumped into the fray. It made it that much more disturbing. Speaking as a mother, I would not want to know my child was suffering and from the videos, pictures, articles, etc., you could tell there wasn't much left. My heart broke each time I heard a new news report.

It's been said before, but the reason the Christian right wanted her kept alive is that we all know it only takes half a brain to be a Republican. She'd have probably been on the low to average end of their base.

So she had only half a brain, Now maybe the "Kill Terri" crowd will stop their whinning about her being in pain and suffering. She didn't have the brains of a slug so what the "Hale" does it matter if she was kept alive or not SHE SURE didn't have a clue about IT one way or the other. To Terri it made ZERO differance because she only had Half a brain.

Glad to see that attitude from you, John. So her wishes to be allowed to die if found in such a condition should stand? Right?

Schiavo's Parents Not Swayed By Autopsy Results

LARGO, Florida (AP) -- An autopsy that found Terri Schiavo suffered from severe and irreversible brain-damage has done nothing to sway her parents' position that she deserved to live and may have gotten better with therapy.

Next time I lose a leg in a car accident I'll have to remember to have this elusive therapy they advocate so strongly to let it grow back...

Sham, AFAIK it involves splicing Lizard DNA with human to cause cellular regeneration, side effects include turning green, growing a tale and fighting Spiderman.
