I figure if I could do anything it would be to create world peace, to make every human equal. I'd rather be poor and live in a world of total peace than be rich and live in a world like we do today.

To make everyone equal freedom must be sacrificed. Equality and freedom cannot truly coexist. I like my freedom, and I like the responsibility that comes with it. Equality is all well and good. It's a good attitude to have towards one another, but genuine equality kills too much freedom.

Freedom and equality can't exist because if everyone and everything is equal, how can you be an individual? You couldn't be, you'd have to do everything like everyone else would. There wouldn't be competition, drive, motivation, nothing. The world would be so horribly bland and boring if everyone was equal. I think you're reading too much into the 'poor and rich' aspect. Not everyone wants something better than the next person. We'd like to have money so we can have nice things. Good meals, a nice car, a nice home, it doesn't always have to be an ego battle like you're making it out to be. |
