Is either people keep calling you by your old name, or stop using any name..
I've also been told the folks will probably get upset if I don't ask them first, and give them the chance to pick it for me (uhhhgggg) So, yea I'm thinking I'll probably change my name by the end of the year, trouble is I've not decided on my new name yet (hey, it's hard picking out names, ya know) So I'd like to run some names by the gathered forumites, see what ya'll think.. Can I get away with em.. Name; Keita Meaning; Forest Origin: Celtic/Gaelic Name; Teva Meaning; Nature Origin; Hebrew I was also at one point considering Juno, but I've religated that because it's just a little out there..

Before you can change anything at all, i think you need to ask permission first.

Erm... Not to sound disrespectful, but don't you think Keita and Teva aren't a little bit "out there" as well, especially for a guy? And why would you want a name change anyway?
edit: according to babynames.com, Keita is actually a female name; teva is apparently used with both genders. [ 04-09-2005, 09:44 AM: Message edited by: Grojlach ] |

Give him a chance to explain....maybe he's considering a sexchange as well. That would be a perfectly good explanation.

Are you older than 18? If so, then you can do what you want. There's no need to let your parents pick out another name... what makes you think they'll do better the second time around?
If my kids change their names as they get older, I won't feel slighted that they didn't keep what we picked out. I will support them no matter what. My job as a parent is to get them to make their own decisions by the time they leave the house, not to continue making their decisions for them.

You have to get your head shrunk before they even consider it. And even then you have to prove you can function as the target gender for at least a year, and with waiting lists over two years long for NHS surgery and that's the basic stuff.. To awnser your question, no. Well not in the near future at least. ... Now to do with the names, no I don't need permission, I'm old enough and ugly enough to DIY, and there's no legal way to change your name in england.. Your name is whatever you are know as, so as long as I stop being known by my old name I can pickup a new one right off the bat.. To get my new name on my passport there's got to be evidence that I've stopped using my old name and evidence that I'll be known by the new name, deed poll is the nearest you get to offcaily changing your name here. Yes I know Keita is normaly a female name, but I'll redefine it. [ 04-09-2005, 10:32 AM: Message edited by: Q'alooaith ]

Didn't know you were such a hippy...
![]() ![]() Hmm I've got a mate who suddenly decided he wanted to change his name from Amin to Tamin-Joe (TJ). It's funny, he actually pretty much pulled it off, since that's how he always introduced himself after that point and he lost touch with most of his old friends except me and a few others and now he even has some ID cards with TJ on it etc. But his reason for the change was "If I ever get in trouble with the police, all people know is TJ, they'll never find me" ![]()

few others I've kinda looked at but disscarded, simply because they where too femanin, or I didn't think I could pull them off, or both;
Brenna, Makayla, Skyler I'm still toying with Juno, it's just a slightly weird one, but probably too weird for my first name.

If I may ask, why do you want to change your name?
