Exclamation

Well this thing that happened to Marty:
http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/cg...;f=33;t=001172

I had exactly the same thing... only with my ToB CD...

Well... the CD is shattered to pieces and there is nothing to be done with that. I'll try and get a new one from somewhere. Also I'll be definately getting a new CD drive...

But my question is anyone knows the reason and how to prevent this from happening???
The only thing which I can say is that a few month ago my CDs would sometimes be still spinning after I open the drive (did that happen to you too Marty?). I didnt think it a big problem but now I think it's realated to what happened.
So if anyone of you opens a CD drive and finds the CD still spinning then it's a definate sign to replace the drive IMMEDIATELY. Dont wait for a CD to be destroyed.

I got mine off Ebay a couple of weeks ago, £10.20 brand new and sealed - just so you have an idea of prices.

You can still buy SoA and ToB at EB as a boxed collector's edition I saw them there just the other week.

My name is in the topic of a thread! YEA!

I actually had no prior "warning", such as the disk spinning phenomenon, and can't really give much help since that drive is now in a garbage heap somewhere. Sorry to hear that I'm not the only one.

One theory for what had happened for me was that my unit's vents had been covered, forcing it to overheat in the drive, but I was a bit too hysterical with rage to check under my desk at the time

THe CD still spinning thing has happened to me a few times. No CDs shattered yet, but I did have to replace teh drive a while ago because teh draw refused to open, and a CD was stuck in it. I still don't know why this happened.

Yeah, I know it's a bit off topic. Sorry.
